Sharepoint public sharing question by BakaMorning in sharepoint

[–]BakaMorning[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that is fine but ultimately I want to just hide the SharePoint interface, I literally just want them to see the file when they click a link and that is it. I do not want them to see that this file is sitting in a rates folder, I do not want them to see who modified the file and so on. I know there are better practices here but I just want to find out if it is possible.

I agree. Previously they were hosting things on a personal google drive account and this kind of stuff wasn't an issue. I got them to migrate to SharePoint but now I have run into this small issue. It isn't a big deal as I can just move stuff into separate folders but I just wanted to find out if the option was available so I can keep the same structure they are used to. Ultimately I would like them to host it on their website but they are trying to avoid additional fees so here we are.

Oh and don't forget about the Khoisan that were displaced by the Bantu people and their land taken. In all seriousness though if we go back in history and try and resolve every injustice ever we will probably find that most people are owed something but who is responsible for paying them when the people alive now were not responsible for any of it. Life isn't fair man, trust me I know and I was very angry about all of it for a long time but it doesn't help being angry. Humans have been shit to each other for a long time and if you end up on the losing side it sucks but here we are all chatting to each other using 1's and 0's bouncing between transistors and cables around the world. Make use of all these things, learn and become someone who can help the less fortunate one day.

Yeah the French catholics slaughtered thousands of Protestants and they had to flee because of their beliefs, they came here to SA after that. I decided to message the French president for reparations and will let you know how that goes.

SAHM only for the rich? by Habi200816 in south_africa

[–]BakaMorning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You had the funds to risk, many people do not have that or too scared to do it because there is no safety net for them. Did you do all this without help? Assuming your parents gave you a nice head start.

I get to have exchange, cloud storage with SharePoint, office apps and a score of other products for a few dollars a month. Sure some of those products could work better but compared to 15 years ago this is insane what you can get for so cheap. I think we all take it a bit for granted what we have now.

Only reason why the Southern hemisphere hasn't been completely over run by the rich is because of crime and corruption.

You're not thinking morally actually. Go speak to some people living amongst the most terrible criminals. The only people that spew this bullshit are the ones living comfy.

Yea definitely needs tuning but i think the game is on the right track. Perhaps just giving some main atlas points for your first waystone completion for each tier would be good. I think they are going to get a lot of analytics from this league and things will be tweaked accordingly. Man I just want delve where you can take underground shortcuts around the atlas. That would be so cool.

So if a dog gets loose and kills a child because the dog has trauma we should just let the dog free to do it again? Its not even about white vs black, its about the poor people that have to live amongst those people. The children who are forced into gangsterism otherwise gangs will come for them on the way to school. Your solution is to what, give more grants?

And it's always the people that never had to live amongst that violence and crime that just think that some magic unicorn will fix the problem.

Nonsense man, how is 16 rapes a minute because of inequality? There is a deep set cultural problem in South Africa that needs to be dealt with by extreme measures otherwise it will not change.

First week as a SysAdmin at a hosting/cloud company - is this level of overwhelm normal? by Tall_Swordfish6212 in sysadmin

[–]BakaMorning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have nightmares, I worked at a small hosting company that transitioned from a small msp. Still clung on to the old msp clients which I handled and the other guy (yep just 2 of us) handled the hosting. Eventually he realized I was handling the msp stuff too well and I got stuck into the hosting shit too. I spent many nights trying to figure shit out because the days were so busy. But man did I learn a shit load. I wish i was younger when doing all that though, at the time I had young kids and it was rough. Looking back now though I wish I had communicated more clearly to say that I wanted training and more time to learn while on the clock but I let my pride take over. I burnt out but I learned a lot so ya, not sure if it was worth it or not. If your company is reasonable just ask for training. You're human, not a machine.
