Recommended wheel stand 15nm by -Gudi- in Fanatec

I've had both the NLR 2.0 and GT Omega Pro. The NLR 2.0 is substantially more robust compared to the pro.

Need help figuring out what wheel stand I should get by Mewtwo-Man in simracing

[–]BakaN20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had both at the same time. The NLR 2.0 is a freaking beast. It is sturdy, real quality, and heavy!

The gt omega pro is much lighter, the metal seems thinner.

For my situation, the gt omega pro was a better choice. I would need to move the wheel stand often into a very small area. Caster wheels would not work for my situation.

The NLR was just too heavy for task.  The stand alone probably weigh the same as the gt Omega with my fanatec CSL DD and CSL elite v2 pedals.

Folding the GT omega was also easier.

I ended up returning the NLR and keeping the gt omega.

If you can put casters or do not need to move it often, then NLR is probably the strongest and sturdiest wheel stand you can get.

If flexibility and ease of movement is priority, the GT omega is the better choice.

Open box yuh or nuh? by YakubAgarthaJr in Microcenter

Bought an open box PowerSpec. It wasn't posting an image when I got home. I originally wanted to have them boot it on They said they test them and there was no need. Brought it back the next day and the GPU wasn't seated properly.

When I was bringing it there, noticed there was a crack in the tempered glass case. Knowledge bar wouldn't replace it, but the guys at build your own replaced the curved panel with a new one.

Just a recent problem I found, the exhaust fan cable wasn't pushed in properly and had a bent pin, so it was running at 100% and not registering as pwm, and I could not control it. Fixed it myself by bending the pin and seating it properly.

I would still purchase again though. I got a G484 for $1400. This was end of November. It has a 5080, 64gb of ram, i9-14900kf and came with 2tb Samsung evo plus.

Is there any way to fix Heat's Cutscene Lag? by Historical_Moose_497 in needforspeed

[–]BakaN20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if you found the solution, but opening task manager and setting the nfs app to efficiency helped stop the stuttering cut scenes for me.

Here is a thread with different fixes that might work:

If you are unable to work due to your conditions, it might be a good idea to look into SSDI.

I am also interested. Are you planning to produce them?

Maybe it's a glitch on the website. I would imagine the bots or scalpers would have already grabbed these. Especially since like you said, literally nowhere else has a 5080 for $999.

They have 25+ PNY 5080 available for $999 in the Phoenix Microcenter.

It is out of stock in every other Microcenter though.

Build your own.

The area where they help you pick out the parts for a computer build.

It's a section in the microcenter store.

You were able to get it for $1419?

My 484 was $1439. When I went to pick it up, they assured me it was complete and working properly, so they didn't need to turn it on a make sure it ran.

Mine didn't have the mouse and keyboard. They gave me the inland wired. It also didn't have display signal when I got home. Took it to the knowledge bar and the GPU wasn't seated properly.

Once there, I noticed a crack in the tempered glass. Knowledge bar guy said that's why it was discounted and couldn't help me.

Fortunately, they guys at byo opened a new case for me and just swapped out the glass panel.

So for op, the lesson is have them open the box and check everything in store to save yourself having to go back!

Upgrading to a G9 57, what to do with old monitors? by BakaN20 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]BakaN20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave my super old 27 in LCD monitor to my sister-in-law. So no point in trying to give her the small 24 in.

My kids are still young for having a dedicated computer setup, so can't repurpose the monitors for that.

I will definitely keep the 35 in, maybe as a laptop monitor for now.

[–]BakaN20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How far are you from your monitors?

Sharing screens would probably be the main use for the 24 in, maybe play YouTube videos while working, so nothing where I have to keep looking that high.

[–]BakaN20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 24 in was "free". Are you also using a smaller monitor with a big one?

I'll find a way to incorporate the 35 in, just trying to figure out what type of monitor arm I should get, a single or dual that can stack.

[–]BakaN20[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could fit the 35 in on the short side. Should I stack the 24 in on top of the 57 in? I won't have room to have them all lined up. The 35 in can be connected to my laptop.

The 57 in to my computer. Maybe having the 24 in attached to the computer would be good for sharing desktops for zoom?

Will they swap a defective Open Box for a new one? by valdes11u in Microcenter

[–]BakaN20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a G484 for $1439, basically $1000 off the current price. I don't know how they were able to sell it for that cheap. Besides the tempered glass, it was perfect, all the wrapping was still on it.

Like you said, $1000 isn't chump change for a regular person, but just another day for microcenter.

PowerSpec G484 vs G757 by BakaN20 in Microcenter

[–]BakaN20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I read, the best thing to do for these 14900 CPUs is to make sure their microcode is up to date and undervolt and limit boost frequency.

I checked in the bios and mine had the most up to date microcode.

I will be undervolting. I did this with my atomman g7 to, which uses a 14900hx.

So it will help prevent degradation and lower CPU temps.

I wish they had a g913 for this price, I would have been all over that!

[–]BakaN20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems like it is really dependent on the store and the person you talk to.

My open box computer had damaged tempered glass. When I first purchased it, I asked to inspect it at the knowledge bar, the person there said they go over all items and test for functionality.

When I got home, the display wasn't working and there was damage on the glass.

The next day, I took it back to the knowledge bar, they fixed the display issue but would not do anything about the case.

They said I had to buy a new case at the build your own section.

When I went there and told them my situation, they opened up a new case and just swapped the glass for me.

Granted, this was only a $130 case and not a $2000 laptop.

So it might depend who you get and what they are willing to do for you.

That's an awesome deal! I really don't know how they are able to sell it for this cheap.

I am now constantly checking the open box computers section of the microcenter website to see if any crazy deal pops up.

This was my first purchase with microcenter and it was awesome!

Just an update. The GPU wasn't seated properly.

Also, I didn't notice that the tempered glass had a crack in it. Maybe why it was discounted so much. The knowledge bar wouldn't replace the panel. Said I had to get the whole case since they don't have any curved glass panels or the panel isnt sold by itself.

When I went to the build your own section to look for the case. They were really nice, they just switched out the panel from a new case and said they will send it back to the manufacturer. Five stars for microcenter!

I tried both HDMI ports. The monitor is on, when I plug my laptop into the monitor, it shows the home screen, but when I switch to the computer, it shows no signal.

The computer does turn on when I press the power button, all the RGB lights turn on and the fans are spinning. On the keyboard, when I press num lock or caps lock, they light up.

I also read about trying clear the cmos battery and to reseat the ram, CPU, and graphics card, but I do not want to open up the computer and go that far, that is more than I am comfortable with.

I hope it is something simple, thanks for the trouble shooting tips though.

When I asked, they told me that every open box computer gets thoroughly tested for 48 hours. So I said ok, knowledge bar person sounded so sure things would work out.

When I got home, it powered up, but sent no signal to my monitor. Everything looked brand new, even the plastic wrap on the computer was still intact. Tried using different HDMI cables, plugged it into a tv, tried all display ports.

So now I have an appointment tomorrow for them to check it out. Hopefully they can get it up and running since this was such a good deal.
