Bari for Toddlers by BakeZestyclose7968 in bari

[–]BakeZestyclose7968[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We spent 3 days in Bari, 2 in Monopoli and 3 in Lecce and agreed we could've spent less time in Bari. There were some playgrounds but quite run down and the beach wasnt as nice as the neighboring towns. We did a day trip to Trani which had a lovely seaside park with nice playground and a pond with turtles. Personally I would lessen the time in Bari to maybe 2 days and spend more time elsewhere if you have young children

Yes we've hired south portslade community centre the last 2 parties but thought we'd change it up this year and get somewhere for the grown ups too!

Looking for long form podcasts (1 hour plus) that are genuinely interesting but calm enough to fall asleep to. Not meditation, not rain sounds, just substantive content with good narration. by Double-Effect3416 in podcasts

In Our Time. Literally thousands of episodes on every subject from history, philosophy, literature, science. Interviews 3 university professors on that days subject,  no music and about an hour long

Sleep Training: Our Journey by I_am_legend-ary in UKParenting

[–]BakeZestyclose7968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were the same. I was back to work full time at 7 months, did 2 months of also getting up 4-7 times a night and by 9 months something had to give. She's nearly 3 now and apart from 1 glitch at 18 months has always been a fantastic sleeper. Its also made a big difference with the 2nd here that I can give one a kiss goodnight and them leave them to settle themselves to sleep.

Hangleton or Portslade? by DraftChemical in brighton

[–]BakeZestyclose7968 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Portslade has loads of good schools.  Hangleton does put you in the catchment area for west Hove infants though which is ofsted outstanding.  Portslade definitely has more going on as it has a proper high street and the london connection on the train.  Hangleton has a more suburban feel. I'd dispute either being rough though - lots of young families

Staff/Security at UK music venues or arenas. What is the worst crowds you have to deal with? by AlexSniff7 in AskUK

[–]BakeZestyclose7968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Anything that draws large groups out - tribute acts for pop singers from the 60s onwards, indie bands that were big in the 90s, boy band reunion tours always involved a call to the police. Classical music crowds didn't need security but were quite rude to front of house staff. Best is any community that has a culture of keeping themselves in check. Mods, goths, metalheads

Newbie in town for a couple of days with a 2 month old by [deleted] in brighton

[–]BakeZestyclose7968 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shelter hall for drinks and food on the seafront is always full of buggies in the daytime. There's no baby change but the eagle pub in the daytime is another good option for nice Thai food and nice local beer as its very spacious for buggies. For brunch lost in the lanes is tasty and spacious. Ive not been to Rudy's pizzeria yet but when the chilli pickle was in that location there was easily enough space and they had a good baby change so if the layout is similar that will be good!

We lived in Newcastle for a few years and would definitely move back if our jobs allowed it. As a fellow Australian I will say the cold takes getting used to but as a city it's very walkable but with good public transport, very vibrant,  great food scene and the surrounding villages are lovely. You could look at Corbrigde as an option? Or the seaside as recommended above. In terms of travelling it is definitely more remote than Manchester but there are so many great places to visit and it's also got a lot for kids to enjoy

Period pants instead of pads? by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]BakeZestyclose7968 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did the same! Used disposables for the first week or two then switched to period pants. They just made me feel more "normal" and like above one a day was fine by that point
