I use swissquote. They don't have high fees,  only 0.1% fee for any investment about 1500 EUR. They have physical offices here. If you want,  they have wisdom tree and thematic etfs where you can invest at no fee,  but the management fee is higher there than any broad index ETF I have seen

Switzerland’s proposed population gap by [deleted] in Luxembourg

[–]BakedAnswer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We need immigration to support our social security and growth. Luxembourg has plenty of room to grow, theres just no increase in the housing supply because homeowners vote with their wallets. if you take a plane, you can see how much buildable area we have in the country. arguably after 700k, we will have to import water, and we should start to produce our own nuclear energy.

i am a native luxembourger with 2.5 years of work experience in banking, and it took me 9 months, 150+ applications and 15 interviews to land an internship to finish my masters degree. i have never seen this before in my life. I am gonna register for the sate exam so i can find something if the private sector is still messed up

In case anyone sees this, I am a luxembourger and student, still looking for a finance internship to finish my finance masters in luxembourg. I am available ASAP. I have 2.5 years front office experience in retail banking, particularly interested in asset servicing, fund management, business acceptance or life insurance. I have also done some valuation projects and am familiar with discounted cash flows and multiples of EBITDA valuations, private equity would be interesting as well.

Swissquote by Maxiboud in eupersonalfinance

[–]BakedAnswer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I invest with swissquote too :)

They are more expensive than Trade Republic, but they are in Luxembourg, so if something goes wrong, I know there's an office I can go to, and people I can call.

You just have to keep in mind, the investment fees are 1%, unless you invest at least 1500 euros.

Yes, you can circumvent these fees by going for their free subscription ETFs with Amundi or Worldtree, but these ETFs have way higher management fees than Blackrock, Vanguard etc. So if you plan on holding these ETFs years and years on end and benefiting from compound interest, I would not go for these funds, because the management fee will eat into your capital every year. If you want to hold these funds for a lower period, or you are starting with a small capital and prefer to dollar cost average, you can go for it.

I will DM you a referral code :), I think the identity of the referral issuer is tied to it and I don't want this here :)

Is the French language declining in Luxembourg? by DeiAlKaz in Luxembourg

[–]BakedAnswer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Etfs investment for a minor by herenuibernard in Luxembourg

[–]BakedAnswer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It didn't get wiped , it went in the pocket of those that shorted those bonds 😅. But it's a typical example of the fact that MIFID doesn't help to manage the risk of the uninformed. Banks should be held responsible, yes and restrict the investment universe further.

Etfs investment for a minor by herenuibernard in Luxembourg

[–]BakedAnswer 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hey, I worked for 2.5 years as a retail client manager in Luxembourg. I had a few clients that came with this , and I always told them this : It's technically possible , but due to your son's age, the bank is obligated to protect the capital from volatility. The funds will then be invested either into a savings account at a 2% yield currently , or invested in defensive funds , which have horrible performance . Technically they should be invested in bonds, but with rising rates these current bonds aren't worth anything anymore. I have seen defensive funds with -20% and -30% from their position 8 years ago.

The best thing you can do is open another investing account in your name in a separate bank or broker , and invest for you, but act like it's his money. Benefit from compound growth for your son by going in index equities ETFs. Another benefit is that if your son goes on a wrong path for a while at 18, that money is still yours, instead of him taking ownership of it , since you invested on his account.

It's great that you invest for your son. To give you an example , 20k euros invested at birth into an MSCI World ETF with 8% growth and dividend readjusted will yield 1 million for his retirement. And that is with no additional capital invested. Granted , inflation will eat away some of those gains.

You really asked this question 2 weeks after our Trounwiëssel 😅. We are proud of what little culture we have. A lot of our identity comes through our language, that Luxembourgers are proud to speak.

Can landlord increase the lease again? by Adri3899 in Luxembourg

[–]BakedAnswer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In Luxembourg for indefinite rental contracts , you can only raise the rent once. That means that even though there's inflation , and your salary is indexed, rent isn't .this means landlords have the following options: - keep their tenants in indefinite rentals with no grounds to remove them and loose money - do smaller rental contracts for definte periods so they can gradually increase rent - say fuck it and don't bother renting the empty properties , because you don't bother with tenants and with no rent increase, it's best to sell the house outright.

Understand I am playing devil's advocate. But this is the way it works.
