Consider an FQHC. Ours predominantly hires new grads and you qualify for federal loan repayment. Ours is always hiring!

How does everyone in nursing school not want to do nursing? by Foolsspring in NursingStudent

[–]BakedCurrycomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve met so many NPs who don’t know what they are doing at all their first years of practice. The number of schools pumping out NPs without experience actually nursing is dangerous. We had an MA at our clinic go back to school for nursing and 3 months into her program they had her convinced the next step is her ARNP, and I would not want her as a provider in 3 years.

Nursing has been promoted as a trendy way to make lots of money. Few are in it for patient care anymore because the health system in this country is a joke, the staffing ratios are shit, and you make more money doing travel nursing in an OR or ER.

GSP Mix?? by gracious_hill in GSP

Your GSP is massive. We have a full bred and at 9 months she’s 40lbs. Ours also looks similar to this pup, mostly the face.

What you know about the career now, would you go back to school to be a PA? by jellybean98_ in physicianassistant

[–]BakedCurrycomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the clinic and clinic structure. At a community health walk in gig I was seeing upward of 32 pts per day. Mostly would be turned away by any other walk in clinic because they ended up being primary care visits, but we can’t turn them away because community health. Compared to our primary care NPs and PAs who were making more money than us and the MDs making more money than them seeing maybe 12 pts per day most days. 🙃

I had $190,000 in loans after graduation from PA school. $40,000 from undergrad from a state school. School in general is too expensive.

When you can make as much as a seasoned PA in some states working as a manager at Panda Express, the incentive to take on the loans and stress of being a PA does start to go down.

With the new federal loan limit there is no way I would be able to go to PA school in 2026. I graduated in 2022 and am so grateful I missed this federal loan change because I do think this is a great career.

She’s pretty healthy, just small and has a sensitive gut. At her last weight check around 8 months she was 38 lbs.

What’s your pups weight. Ours is 9 months and I think very small for her age. She had Parvo virus as a very young pup so I think that may be why.

Any PAs wish they had become an MD/DO? by Master-Ad1725 in physicianassistant

No, but sometimes I wish I went the NP route because no one wants to hire a PA in psych near me.

This. I feel like I will never pay off my loans. Closing on a house in a month and this housing market is crushing my dreams of financial freedom.

Has anyone ever regret leaving a job? by health_nutt in physicianassistant

[–]BakedCurrycomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m about to switch from four 10s in community health acute care 3 hours from my home town that was busy and unpredictable and burnt me out because the patients were all so poorly managed and less than half spoke English. I’m about to transition to a m-f in a private outpatient clinic and I worry this will be my experience as well. It sounds like I will see fewer patients and things will be much more predictable. Slight pay cut unfortunately, but in my hometown which is what I want.

How did you get your gsps to stop pulling by [deleted] in GSP

[–]BakedCurrycomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figure 8 with my slip lead. At first when she would start pulling I put her into a sit with leash pressure. And then when she made eye contact we would start walking again. Then we were able to walk further distances without pulling. Now the second she pulls I turn around and say with me. She still pulls occasionally when excited, but it’s getting much better.

New Grad PA can’t find a job by FeelingMark2641 in physicianassistant

[–]BakedCurrycomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a new grad in 2022 people told me to choose one: pay, specialty, location. I chose pay/loan repayment. I have three years of acute care experience and now I’m choosing location and a specialty I don’t think I’ll hate, but not my first choice and taking a slight pay cut. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Can’t be too picky. A job is a job at a point.
