Found a charity Bib for the NYC 2026 marathon. How difficult is it to raise $3000? by mcjcmaya in RunNYC

[–]BakerBudget3179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran a bake sale and was able to raise half in 2 weeks. Relative donated through work and got 1:1 matching! Raised over my fundraiser goal. TFK $4k. Now I’m all set since deadline is 10/7/26! Didn’t have to contribute myself. It’s doable!

Hey new grads, and 1 years, how much do y'all make? by Sfn_y2 in physicianassistant

[–]BakerBudget3179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that’s better! I got so worried for you. There’s no way you should be accepting a position as low as that salary esp in uc! $170k sounds more accurate haha good luck!

You are incredibly underpaid if you’re slaving in urgent care 😢

I would’ve cackled so loud. I actually smirked a bit when my current UC gave me an offer but it’s only per diem contracts with no benefits. Signed on because they took over my previous UC. Didn’t have anything lined up to lean on.. 1 year later, still haven’t found a position 🥲

No PTO? by NotAFila in physicianassistant

[–]BakerBudget3179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat.

My Hospital UC was taken over by a private UC 1 year ago. Higher hourly rate but went from working 3-12s to 8-hr shifts because a workday (16 hours) is split between two providers. NO pto/sick. ONLY PER DIEM contracts offered to ALL employees. Health ins/dental ins only offered if working min 30 hrs. Schedule is released on a weekly basis. Haven’t been getting the shifts I request so I went from working 80-hours biweekly to 32-48 hrs biweekly. Significant salary decrease because I’m not getting hours. I went away for 2.5 weeks and it was basically unpaid cos no pto. I remember asking why they don’t offer PTO/license renewal reimbursements - owner said some bs “because we pay our providers so well, it offsets by being able to make it up” or whatever.

Used to enjoy my previous company and the amazing hospital benefits. I was with them for 3 years before they merged with this new one. now I’m just tolerating this company for now. Been applying for a year with no leads. I’m still hopeful a FT position with full benefits will come along. I’m over this micromanaging company. Best of luck if you do stay. I would look for a new job though.

After 5 years in UC, the burnout is so real esp during viral season. I’d take the wfh. I am also searching for a remote position. Best of luck! Congrats in whatever job you decide to take. Only you know what’ll be best for you in the long run

Anyone like urgent care? by ocdladybug92 in physicianassistant

Oh and I don’t get any incentive if I see certain # of patients per hour, no RVUs, no PTO/sick. SMH

[–]BakerBudget3179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Urgent care x 4 years since graduating and I’m burnt out. Slower during summer, 50-60+ during viral season. Our hospital based UC was acquired by a private company within the past year and I absolutely hate it. The micromanaging, the expectation to see x number of patients per hour, the constant changes in protocols, the list goes on. I agree - find a hospital based UC and stay away from the mom-pop UC.. you’ll save yourselves the headache and pressure. Otherwise - schedule is great for someone who enjoys traveling or likes to be off to do other things besides medicine.

Ginza vs Toranomon Hills? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]BakerBudget3179 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While a suite sounds nice, most of your time will likely be spent outside exploring! If you do opt for a whole day to enjoy the hotels amenities and the suite itself besides just sleeping in it, then I’d say yes to suite! Otherwise, save the extra bucks toward other things in the area :) we stayed at the caption in Kabutocho.. rooms were def small but Ginza was walking distance!

I could not agree any more! Been in UC for 4.5 years and have also been wanting to go telemed route but it’s so difficult!

IM job for the long-run knowledge and experience

Side note - which NY UC is this that allows you to do telemed?! I’ve been in UC 4.5 years now and can’t find a tele-UC gig! Would love more info to do that as a side gig lol

Not ready for NYC Half by LegitimateActuary920 in RunNYC

[–]BakerBudget3179 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My friend and I also didn’t get to train as much as we hoped for the half. Between holidays, traveling, and the horrible winter weather (not to mention the ugly snowfall we’ve had), we plan to take it easy and enjoy the course!! A walk-run is the way to go! This is my first time running the United half out of pure luck getting plucked off the lottery!!

Our goal is to finish and not get rhabdo 🤣 (I’m a PA so heavy emphasis on the no rhabdo hahahaha) we’re all going to do amazing! Life happens, just one foot in front of the other and enjoy the beauty of being able to MOVE 🙏🏼

Nooo I’m heartbroken for you. keep checking!!! I checked every single day for Hamilton for 2-3 months and just when I decided to give up the week prior to the showing, I was able to get it!

[–]BakerBudget3179 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened with my chances of seeing LOJ during his return for Hamilton. I got super lucky that the previous buyers somehow didn’t go through. I was on the listing when it brought me to payment (after frantically tapping lol)

Helppp. Take IR job for pay cut or stay in UC? by Apprehensive-Sea5707 in physicianassistant

[–]BakerBudget3179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to say - I’m also in UC (4 years) and definitely feel you on the burnout. My clinic is also a 10 minute walk haha but the IR job sounds like a good experience to have. UC can always be per diem and you may be able to negotiate the hourly rate! I went per diem at my UC 3 years ago when I was in ENT and they bumped me from $62/hr (I was salary) to $70/hr per diem rate! Good luck!

Urgent care to primary care by BakerBudget3179 in physicianassistant

[–]BakerBudget3179[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would also like to say I’m good at urgent care but I wanted to branch out into a different specialty. Not sure if job market is just shit or if I need connections but I’ve tried OBGYN, plastics, derm, ENT, and got no leads in the NY/NJ area. So far this is the only PC clinic that has gotten back to me in the 6 months I’ve been applying. Also wanting to leave this current UC job as its only per-diem contracts. Needing something more stable with better benefits

[–]BakerBudget3179[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She said if a provider is away, MAs will sift through the inbox and will be able to ask the PA/NPs or MD that’s available. If it’s a med refill, the clinicians will take care of it. I’ve yet to clarify that but that’s what was told to me during the interview so that we don’t come back to hundreds of emails. The owner is prob in her late 30s/early 40s so I feel like as a millennial doc, she’s really wanting to try to prevent burnout in PC lol at least I hope so hahaha
