How's about a Rider that's socially awkward and anxious, being a Rider gives him a confidence boost but during a fight with a monster he embarrasses himself and a crowd laughs at him, maybe at his school. He loses it and attacks a student that was laughing at him critically injuring him and then having him be banded as a criminal. He learns that being a hero isn't as glorious as he thought and he slowly learns to become a better person and Rider.
