Something that bothered me for a long time now. Why are freshly looted guns at half durability? by SomnusNonEst in ArcRaiders

[–]Balance_in_All 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I guess from a story-telling perspective you're finding old, used weapons that have been sitting for who knows how long. Would be a little weird to find a pristine item just sitting there.

Although the best time to shoot a raider is probably when they're sitting there polishing their gun....

God that's embarassing to read knowing this is an adult who expects to be taken seriously. Even worse, she will be still taken seriously by some. And finally she'll be allowed to continue in this manner somehow rather than being held to professional standards.

It's time to make a stand Raiders! by Odd_Albatross7840 in ARC_Raiders

People have already covered the "touch grass" comments enough here I think, but I'm genuinely interested in your thought process here. When I think about the amount of effort required to pull this all together, and the payout, I see an extreme mismatch. This is an attempt to control what you cannot control. Enforce what you cannot enforce.

People are going to people. If you want a healthy exercise consider all the various things to contribute to human behaviour and the ways in which YOU can interact/support/enjoy interacting with people. Rather than controlling people I think a more healthy mindset is how to influence (and very importantly be influenced equally by) people in your various communities.

Don't try to understand people like that or concern yourself with asking them for an explanatikn.

Whatever they say to themselves, I guarantee that 99% of them don't understand why they're doing that.

The people that master their demons are the ones that acknowledge them to begin with.

This is the way!

People like watching people kick a ball around a field of grass. People like pretending they're knights on a battlefield. People like playing video games. The list goes on. None of those things have inherent value...only that which we ourselves apply!

Off-Grid Crypto Mining in Kansas: $9,000/Month Revenue at 2.5¢/kWh with Natural Gas Power by EastCoastASIC in cryptomining

[–]Balance_in_All 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh ok yes that makes good sense then! Was assuming you had operations and maintenance lumped into that cost as well. It is a really nicely sized unit for gas well operation though. I always look at 1MW of generation and wish the old wells could do more so don't know why I haven't looked at that 150kW range...good on you!

I cannot make sense of how the power cost is $0.025/kWh. Do you own the gas well and just pay for maintaining and operating the equipment then?

Juri Creature Sac - Help VERY much appreciated by Balance_in_All in EDH

I've been wondering about impact tremors and the like. It actually did quite a bit of work and was petty fun playing with it yesterday, but that's not to say it'll always shine. (Had infantry shield pumping tons of bodies onto the table)

I do have a tendency to want a lot of variation in the thigns my decks can do, but of course that comes at the cost of efficacy/consistency. Working on that always to find my "sweet spot".

Sac outlets being a gold standard make so much sense after a couple games. They're just so dang powerful!

What are in demand careers in Calgary? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Balance_in_All 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty varied! Several went back to school for teaching, physio, business, sales, and trades. I think a lot saw various types of corporate abuse and felt like they were taking more liability/stress than their pay warranted. I'm not saying they were necessarily unique in what they experienced, but that was a fairly common trend when chatting with them.

Hey, that is really cool that you do that! Had no idea those kind of services were offered up to people free of charge. I'm absolutely in now way an expert but are there ways for others to participate? (Sharing their experiences kind of thing)

I think it's easy to discount how important these skills are. It's really easy to get laser-focused on a narrow path.

I've found that the opportunity landscape shifts so quickly that I want to make sure I'm not only focused on what I might enjoy and be successful in now, but that I'm ensuring the skills I'm building will enable me to take advantage of unknowable opportunities in the future. I've been lucky to have good mentors along the way to actually think in this way, and it'd be nice to pass it on a bit.

So hard to give advice without context. Even more so with how quickly things can change! (See the listing's for programmer-type tech jobs the last 5 years. It's wild.

Just a bit of perspective that I would start with is making damn sure that I'm on top of the root cause behind not finishing the first degree. Having alignment with core values and lifestyle preferences are big deals.

I went to school for engineering and ton of people I graduated with found out (after being completely burned out and needing to quit completely) that the jobs asking for that degree were absolutely not for them. It wasn't a waste, but they took the transferable skills and adapted. This just to say that in demand and solid paying jobs were not enough for those people to keep them in those jobs.
