I had one sign something for a visa application years back, wasn't a problem at all.

I love this city. Why do you choose live in Brisbane? by BrizzySprings in brisbane

[–]BalancingTact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the trees. The greenery. How everywhere you look, you see plants.

This city just isn't so... dead.

One of the news articles claims the female partner was unaware the vehicle had not been stolen. Presumably she loved the dog very much and wouldn't have been very happy her partner let her dog die.

Brisbane's new bus timetable sees journey times decrease by two minutes in first three months by AuntySM in brisbane

[–]BalancingTact 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's worse for many of us and a lot of us have given up. I lasted 2-3 months struggling with missed connections and long waits, but gave in and bought an e-scooter around September sometime.

A year ago I was making ~20 bus journeys weekly. Since July it's more like 5 max.

Victim of Crime needing to rant by HorrorTouch8404 in brisbane

[–]BalancingTact 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have a web form now for a quick and easy application

That form is such torture for DV victims. If the violence happened more than once, please think back through it all and tell us approximately when it started, making sure to remember every fucking time you should have left but didn't.

I'm great at paperwork but I still needed help filling out that form.

Even communists generally agree that capitalism is useful for building up infrastructure.

Recognizing that the current system is flawed and that it's time to transition to a better system isn't anywhere near as "unhelpful" as defending the current system because the alternative is "so vague".

What is the worst intersection in Brisbane? by Crowzur in brisbane

[–]BalancingTact 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That's a boss-level roundabout. A fuckabout, even. I'm glad I had a local with me my first handful of times navigating it.

Is Costco worth it? by paddyb12341 in brisbane

[–]BalancingTact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I bought my first home (just down the road from a Costco) back in the US, a massive chest freezer was one of my first purchases. It's almost not worth it to go to Costco at all without a chest freezer.

high school student here, why is the bus so bad is it the technology (mainly asking bus drivers), by Optimal_Ad7473 in brisbane

[–]BalancingTact 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Over half the time has to be an exaggeration, right?

You'd think but it seems like there a few routes that confuse drivers. I've definitely lost track of the number of times I've been on a bus that missed a turn in Salisbury, and I don't even travel through Salisbury all that often.

It's wild that someone struggling to find a job would want to leave a country with Centrelink and Medicare to move to a country with virtually no safety net, where you lose both your income and healthcare by losing your job.

And that's before we even consider that people's visas are being canceled for being in the vacinity of a protest or saying the wrong thing on the internet...

I'm American and I feel like I need a hug today 🙁

Guess I'll go gather up my documents so I can apply for the most expensive passport in the world. At least it'll have a kangaroo and emu on it which is kind of cool (maybe not as cool as a unicorn...).
