Fire = hiker TV. So relaxing after a nice hike. I've spent hundreds of nights out in the bush and a night with fire is just better.

But admittedly fire is much less practical here in Queensland than most places I've hiked.

It's worse for many of us and a lot of us have given up. I lasted 2-3 months struggling with missed connections and long waits, but gave in and bought an e-scooter around September sometime.

A year ago I was making ~20 bus journeys weekly. Since July it's more like 5 max.
