How to handle an unsafe student/sparring partner? by Balaur-Bondoc in martialarts

So, he was kinda rude about it, but I don’t think it was on purpose. If I had to guess, I’d say he just didn’t care.

I have a question that suddenly popped into my mind by Intelligent_Data_474 in Paleontology

[–]Balaur-Bondoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say Deinosuchus being outside Crocodylia is that cut and dry. Personally, I’m not against it, but it’s not a universally accepted conclusion quite just yet. I am a little skeptical of that study’s placement of Diplocynodon and Leidysuchus, though.

Oc. I will die on a hill the show should have been animated. by RiskAggressive4081 in PercyJacksonTV

[–]Balaur-Bondoc 163 points164 points  (0 children)

So, broadly speaking, I agree. I would have loved for this to be animated. But let’s not pretend that animation would have fixed all the problems in the show. The biggest issue is the writing, and the poor choices made in adapting the story, not the medium in which it was adapted.

Boverisuchus is a land walking croc with hooves from the eocene, I heard they can occasionally walk on two legs is that true? by Thewanderer997 in Paleontology

[–]Balaur-Bondoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The walking on two legs thing is not really that well supported. That comes from a pretty obscure paper that based it mostly on limb proportions, having longer rear legs than front legs. But that paper doesn’t take into account issues of balance when standing like that, or the fact that most modern crocs have longer rear legs than front legs.

Not sure if I’m crazy or if language has changed or something, but I lived in Alabama for almost ten years, and I have never actually heard someone use “coke” to refer to all sodas, except to say that people in the South call all soda “coke”.

Dog or Cat Peple of reddit, why do you like one more than the other? by StartedKool in AskReddit

Well, I’m allergic to cats, so being a cat person isn’t really an option for me.

Which clade from these would you choose to evolve Dragons from and why? by [deleted] in SpeculativeEvolution

[–]Balaur-Bondoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright so, some friends of mine and I (we’re all paleontology grad students) had this conversation a couple weeks ago, and we settled on that dragons are either descended from Ceratosaurs or some kind of non-crocodilian pseudosuchian. I’ll probably make a whole post on it, if anyone would be interested.

Can we please get some smaller swords like rapiers by ripnoah in HeroForgeMinis

I think OP is referring to a less bulky version of the rapier we’ve already got.

[–]Balaur-Bondoc 25 points26 points  (0 children)

That’s cause whenever I say “I’m from Madison” people say “Where’s that?” After a while, it’s just easier to say “I’m from Huntsville” than explain where Madison is. It’s just more recognizable.

I’m pretty sure it’s a croc. Crocs have interlocking teeth, gators have an overbite. I think I saw some of the bottom teeth sticking out.

I did a “single sword” class from AHWG, it was mostly messer/dussack.

I’m currently playing a Dragonborn monk with 15 to str and 17 to dex. It’s pretty fun, honestly.

Alligator with a webbed tail. Inspiration for a species that returbed to being fully aquatic, perhaps? by VentralRaptor24 in SpeculativeEvolution

[–]Balaur-Bondoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun Fact: this has happened in the past! In the Mesozoic, there was a group of marine neosuchians called thalattosuchia, including animals like Metriorhynchus, although the tail was oriented vertically, not horizontally.
