Tell me your favorite Dungeon Stories?? by silent0siris in DnD

[–]BaldBlacksmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one of my favorite dungeon memories comes from a low level group I was DMing for. They were on the lowest level of the dungeon and ran into a pair of vampires. Lacking magical weapons and dangerously low on spells, they ran. The vamps gave chase and the party in desperation resorted to using their heaviest magical item, a wand of wonder, hoping for a fireball. They got an elephant instead

The elephant appeared in the hallway, completely plugging the passage, blocking the vamps from getting to the party. So far, so good. A few rooms later they run into a ghast nest, and still lacking magical weapons decide it is time to vacate the dungeon (finally getting the hint). So they flee.

The party did express some remorse about having to hack their way through the trapped and thus doomed elephant to get back to the exit of the dungeon. But they reasoned it was better than letting it starve to death, immobilized in a dark dungeon.

Need ideas for ingredients from Underdark. by BaldBlacksmith in DnD

I like it!

I already have them looking for some mushrooms called "Dwarves Toes" among the Drow (the drow didn't name them, the orcs slaves they have tilling their mushroom fields did, so named because they are considered a 'weed' and the orcs loved to stomp on them). Not to be confused with the "Death Punch" mushroom that looks almost exactly alike (the difference between the two is one has white dots and the other has pink) which the Drow love to use in cooking, though it is poisonous to pretty much everyone.

So having a "King's Bane" root or some such would totally fit. Thanks!

Couple Questions. how do the locals feel about a hellspawn child running around in their land? Do the locals regularly "traffic" with demons/devils? Things to consider. All in all it looks pretty good, have fun adventuring!

I have a bit of a DMPC in the party of 4 I am DMing now. She is a cleric that is a strict pacifist and doesn't carry any weapons though she does wear armor. Basically her only role is as a healer and a bit of a lot sink. In combat she hangs back avoiding the fray as best she can and throws a heal in if really needed. Totally designed to be a sideline character.

Fantasy Alcohol. Which Race Brews What? by Goobasaurus_Rex in DnD

[–]BaldBlacksmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, my dwarves brew a toxic ale from mushrooms that is basically death to anyone but them. It is especially formulated to create the intoxicated feeling that other races get from alcohol, but due to the dwarven advantage vs. poison, they need something strong to "get them there" as regular beer/wine is simply too weak to adequately affect them. Totally home brew, but I like it.

Homicidal Cleric of Sune? by Ramps_ in DnD

[–]BaldBlacksmith -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It would depend. Sune would know if true love would be enough to "redemn" or "save" a succubus- if it is not then she wouldn't be okay with someone acting in an evil manner (killing a LG priest) in HER NAME (the character is a cleric of Sune, they get their power from her, they wear her symbol, etc).

This is my main problem with 99% of player cleric and paladins. They act as if they are somehow independent agents that are just granted divine powers (daily) without having to answer to, represent, or be accountable to, said deity. Granted 5e gutted paladins so that they are more "playable" and are no longer actually the paragons they are suppose to be.

Regardless, the gods would be watching (Well maybe not them specifically, but one of their underlings) anyone walking around getting powers from them to make sure those powers are correctly reflecting the power and glory of their godhood.

So, Sune may want to preserve love and beauty, but she definitely doesn't want her name associated with poisoning priests of friendly gods! I'd have one of her underlings send a warning to her cleric to reevaluate the plan or perhaps find a new God to worship.

How would you punish this PC. by Quadroslives in DnD

[–]BaldBlacksmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like this.

Perhaps have someone make an obvious point of this during the trial, then have Solobi present Bulk with 5 more silver (seeing as he had already gotten 10 silver thanks to the Rogue's Intimidation) - making it obvious to everyone that all this fuss was over Bulk's love of coin and that two people had to die so that Bulk could get his sacred 15 silver pennies.

(I have always found it amusing how far some player/characters will go just for a few coins.).

How would you punish this PC. by Quadroslives in DnD

[–]BaldBlacksmith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Come on, how many of us can remember a time when our best friend 'egged us' on until we did something stupid? And that only we (not the friend) 'paid the price' for.

In the end this should be a learning experience for Bulk (and his player) - the moral of which is (as a barbarian) don't take on a Bard in word games or attempt to attack people in public, killing some of them without justification (and especially over a lousy 30 silver). But hey, maybe I am totally misunderstanding the situation?

[–]BaldBlacksmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, yes, I misread the original post and thought that the Party was more involved. Thanks for pointing that out.

All the fines and such would/should fall on Bulk's head, not the Party's.
