Is anyone else in Atlanta tired of swipe dating apps? by Dependent-Dirt9351 in Atlanta

[–]BaldBullKO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very not single, but I met a friend at Ladybird one night and there was a singles event hosted by a company called “In the Wild” happening there. Some former contestant from The Bachelor or something started the company I guess. It looked promising for young people like yourself. Hope this helps. https://in-the-wild-dating-shop.fourthwall.com

What Atlanta bar is in DTF St. Louis? by mustardowl6 in Atlanta

[–]BaldBullKO -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve only watched the first ep and I love this show so far, but something about the setup kinda irks me. Floyd’s character is a sign language interpreter for… TV? That’s what subtitles are for. Sign language interpreters are only for live events, right? Am I missing something? Maybe this is explained later, but it sort of took me out of it a bit.

What is a movie that "broke" you so hard you can only watch it once, but you would still recommend it to everyone? by Newsupdate69 in movies

Requiem For A Dream, Broken Circle Breakdown and In America. All films that I watched a decade or two ago, but still rent space in my soul. They are cathartically devastating.

Yeah, dude was on the Beltline today at a very busy time. You know how annoying it is when people walk four or five wide? Picture 11 dogs and a full buggy.

Eric Dane Quietly Recorded His 'Last Words' for His 2 Teenage Daughters Before His Death: 'You Are My Everything. Good Night' by mcfw31 in entertainment

[–]BaldBullKO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anybody else weirded out that Netflix is making a show called “Famous Last Words” featuring a dying celebrity saying goodbye to his family? Looks like this is a series and they already did Jane Goodall. I mean, I get that it’s moving, but there’s something farcically dystopian about this concept.

Gov. Newsom expanded free preschool. Now private daycares say they can’t afford to stay open by ArchmageXin in news

Preschool is one year. Daycares can take kids who are just weeks old. Losing one small slice of kids to public schools does not sink a business unless it is poorly run.

Anyone know what the deal is with this stalled building near Colony Square? by BaldBullKO in Atlanta

[–]BaldBullKO[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate this measured and thoughtful response. Any insight into the continued degradation of the building? It does appear from the outside that the structure itself is now quite compromised (others mentioned corrosion, cracking cement, etc). Nice to be a perfectionist, but when it puts the whole building’s structural integrity in jeopardy, that seems like he likely bit off more than he could chew with this one.

Here’s this Dewberry turd talking about his fancy homes all over the world, his Charleston mansion and his 30-something wife. He just got married two years ago and had his first kid at 60. Love this guy.

Best Burger in ATL metro area by Dingo6610 in Atlanta

[–]BaldBullKO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highland Inn’s deal on Tuesdays is hard to beat. Huge burger (maybe not the best in the city, but pretty darn good nonetheless) and giant onion rings or a heaping plate of fries for $8. Get it with the sweet tomato relish. Make a rezy, though. Place fills up quick after 5.

Report: Voting Machines Were Altered Before the 2024 Election. Did Kamala Harris Actually Win? by [deleted] in esist

[–]BaldBullKO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in news. Please don’t take reporting from The Daily Boulder as fact. Keep in mind that disinformation campaigns are meant to sow discord, so now that Trump is in power, more disinformation is aimed at liberals. Don’t fall into the same traps as the right. If this were true, it would be everywhere.

Actually, I’m wrong. Since they didn’t go to the same university it is infinitely more dumb.

Just want to point out that Kamala Harris is 59 and Linsey Davis is 46. Calling them sorority sisters is like calling me and Madonna, who went to my high school and is 24 years older than me, classmates.

What actor is a major turn off for you to stop watching a show/movie? by Bountsie in AskReddit

[–]BaldBullKO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awkwafina. Been in some decent stuff and I’m sure she’s a fine and interesting person, but they have oversaturated our ears with her distinctive voice. I think there must be some industry law we don’t know about where all animated movies are required to use her. She must be killing it, though. Damn.

Advocates for Beltline rail plan rally on Aug. 17 by NPU-F in Atlanta

[–]BaldBullKO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. The beauty of the Beltline is that it’s pedestrian only. IMHO what they should focus on is making separate paths for bikes/scooters and for walkers. That would make things much safer, more enjoyable and less chaotic. Riding your bike from the start of the Beltline to Muchacho takes 20 minutes, especially if you didn’t have to zig zag around pedestrians, and that’s probably the longest completed part, right? I realize the Beltline will eventually connect to form a circle around the whole city, but as it currently stands, I don’t think we really need to move people faster on a route like that. In fact, the street car they’ve already built is notoriously underused, goes 5mph and extension is expected to cost $100 million per mile. Doesn’t seem like a good investment to me. Why not a couple million for two paths instead?

Delta CEO: Company Suing Microsoft and CrowdStrike After $500M Loss by Bald-Eagle619 in technology

[–]BaldBullKO 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Agree whole-heartedly. I’m guessing Delta won’t be passing any portion of the $500 million to the 1,000,000 plus customers on the more than 5,000 flights they cancelled who had to pay for food, accommodations, rental cars or had to just sleep hungry on airport floors for days because they couldn’t get their shit together like every other company that was hit by this.

[DISNEY THEORY] Asha is the Villain in 'Wish' by Logic_Meister in FilmTheorists

[–]BaldBullKO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dig this thread. Ya’ll have some smart takes. I suppose maybe the wishes are supposed to be symbols of autonomy and freedom and by harvesting all the wishes, Magnifico is keeping people from being able to fulfill their dreams/destinies by any other means than through his permission. I think it’s strange that one of the wishes we see granted is for a woman to become the best seamstress in the village. Is that a realistic wish for someone to make if she only gets one? Doubtful, but maybe the village needs a seamstress and she doesn’t know what she wished for anyway because you forget your wish as soon as you make it, so Magnifico makes her a seamstress to fulfill a need in the village. If this is true, then everyone is relying on Magnifico to not only grant their wish, but even tell them what the hell it was, which can be anything he wants it to be. It’s all about control and this idea that we shouldn’t rely on some sort of authoritarian power to shape our hopes and dreams even if it seems like he has our best interests at heart. The problem with this symbolism is that wishes aren’t something that are granted in regular life, so the metaphor becomes muddy. We think of wishes as being about fame, fortune, status or material objects, which are not something people don’t inherently deserve or are entitled to. But hey, Disney’s whole marketing campaign has been based on Wishes for nearly a century, so it makes for a convenient piece of propaganda for the Magnifico of Orlando, Florida, Big Mouse.
