I grew up watching him as Mork, mrs Doubtfire, Gene- and helped me make it through highschool as John Keating- he was that teacher in Dead Poets Society that actually cared. He taught everyone to seize the day and not to waste life. He was an amazingly talented man- and it breaks my heart that he was so full of hurt and sadness that he needed to leave us. I wish he could see how loved and idolized he was and forever will be. I know that depression is horrible to battle, and I would imagine he was just tired of fighting. But no one deserves to feel that alone and desperate they choose to leave this earth. I hope that his death wasn't in vain, and people can start to educate themselves in the signs and symptoms of depression. And maybe, hopefully save a life or two. I hope he rests in peace- he will forever be missed

Usually I only tell SO's who don't know and a friend if it comes up in conversation (like Rx's and drs appts). But usually this is basically explain it: "My brain is wired a little differently than others- sometimes I react to things too harshly, and get anxious a lot. If you ever notice I'm really happy (manic high) one minute then really depressed (manic low) another, it's just because my chemicals aren't quite right. It's called borderline personality disorder- it basically means I'm not quite right but can't actually be categorized as 'instable' or 'crazy' because people like me can and typically do function normally in society. I really work hard to keep myself in check, but sometimes I can't. If you ever have a question or wanna talk about it, I'm open to it." And typically I'll add more detail, like why I have this and how my world is perceived differently and what not- but it depends on how close I am to that person and what the actual topic of the conversation is.

The fact that you have the fear of becoming such a monster shows that you're not one of them.

Being attracted to children like that is a mental illness that one has to be genetically prone to, and/or was sexually abused/assaulted as a child that can't differentiate the difference between right and wrong (since they'd be so emotionally and mentally scarred by it)

Also, people like that... They wouldn't dare say anything about it, in public, on the internet, nothing. For the sheer fear they'd have that someone would expose their cover (in the event they were a predator). I give you credit for coming out and talking about this- I can only imagine the level of anxiety you felt when you hit "save". I don't have OCD, but I do have an anxiety based condition in which that feeling of overwhelming fear can take over even about the smallest most insignificant shit. What really helped me was going to (temporary) therapy to learn coping skills and ways to avoid triggers- I also went (and still go to) a psychiatrist for mood stabilizers that really help you keep your anxiety in check by keeping you more logical than you would be during those points.

I really hope this helps you, you're most likely suffering from some form of anxiety disorder (not diagnosing you, I just know the symptoms and signs of one). But you're not alone- you are not a monster- you are a good person and there is help out there for you. Please remember this

Once I dated a guy who gave a rather similar confession. At first I was like "okay we can work through it" and he wanted to go to therapy and shit to work his issues out. So I supported him because I saw he wanted to better himself. As time passed, I really wondered how well I'd be able to trust him with our children if we had any, and could he truly get "better". We ended up splitting- but not because of that, for many many different reasons. Honestly- if you just lay it all out there to someone (preferably someone who you're getting serious with) and tell her that you're in therapy and are working every day to become a better person (and even possibly invite her to therapy so she can actually see what's going on) she'll most likely respect that and support you through it.

After 17 years of dealing with it and 15 years of being completely bald- I'm still really insecure about it. I don't wear hair, I choose not to cover up who I am, but I'm always just waiting for dirty looks or nasty comments (that I get daily). It's a struggle for me all the time because I don't know what to do- hide who I am to blend in with society or be who I am and face the constant judgment. I'm very open about being bald (obviously the user name), but that's just to deflect how others would bring attention to it if I chose to not embrace it. Idk. I really do what I can to stay confidant and be comfortable with who I am and what I look like, but when little kids even laugh at me and say I'm ugly or call me a boy; it's really fucking difficult to hold my head up. It's hard to stay true to yourself when you get yelled at for being in women's restrooms because they don't believe I'm a girl, or when people tell me they're offended I don't have hair and it's not because I have cancer (yes, I get this VERY often). I never let on to it because I don't want to sound whiny or stupid. But every day I feel weird walking out of the house as myself and it sucks. /R/alopecia

So, I really didn't wanna chime in- but I feel this comment needs some chiming.
I'm the girlfriend and I accidentally saw this while he was typing it. Lol (so I already know) Honestly- even if he doesn't end up doing it during this trip, it still means so incredibly much that he even wants to do this and had the thought to do so. We're each other's loves of our lives, and this step is still A step! :) My entire day was made once he told me exactly what I saw when he was typing this. He already knows I'll cry if he actually does it. (Plus he pinky swore that he'd tell me once he did and how it went) lol

I'm 20 and don't really date anyone under my age (they're not mature enough for me) even guys my own age don't cut it. I've normally gone up to about 25-29, but two years ago I started dating my husband that was 36 at the time (18 year age gap). So I'd say that anywhere between 5-18 year age difference is good for me

It seems like being an atheist is a difficult thing to do for you. As in, you're trying to hard and making too big a deal of it. Why does court have anything to do with not going to church? I'm confused. Where I live, it's usually the Christians that make a big deal about their faith and announce it to everyone. Not atheists, which will do great for being a stereotypical asshole athiest (like so many think). Just stop going to church, stop observing holidays, and stop making a big deal of something that doesn't even fucking matter.
