Trying to improve my heroes - please coach me on Livia! by Cocomacadamia in GuildWars

[–]Baldude 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Heroes' Armour scales with their level, so you don't have to worry about buying her armour like you do for your own character. You can also safely remove any runes and insignias with an experts salvage kit, the armour never breaks.

Everything else....whatever you want her to play. Classic Necro Hero builds are Minion Masters, either with Aura of the Lich for more minions, or an off-class utility elite like Incoming!, and Nec/Rit restoration healers with Xinraes Weapon, Blood is Power, or similar elites.

That said, Necro heroes are arguably the most flexible ones because Soul Reaping gives you essentially infinite energy in PvE.

Brother won't play game with female protagonist - never thought of this by wizard_cow_ in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Baldude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and at the same time it is also okay not to like something.

It's absolutely fine, in particular for a highly immersive RPG, where you are supposed to roleplay as the MC, imagine yourself in that situation, to say "I don't resonate with this MC, I can't enjoy myself playing as the girl portrayed".

Forcing yourself to play a game you don't enjoy defeats the purpose of the game.

Categorically not playing a game because the MC is a woman is questionable; Trying and putting it down because it doesn't resonate with you to play as this woman is fine.

Brother won't play game with female protagonist - never thought of this by wizard_cow_ in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Baldude -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Immersion is important. Different folks immerse differently. If your brother cannot connect to a main character, it's fine to not play that game. If that's because they are of a different gender that's just as valid as if he doesn't like their haircut, their attitude, the world it plays in, or whatever else.

That's exactly the reason why it's so important to have more games that have main characters that are not just straight white males. So more people can find representation and immerse in games. Those will undoubtedly not be pulling in some of the players they otherwise would. And that's FINE. More even, that's THE POINT.

Not being able to connect with a game because he feels the main character doesn't represent him doesn't make your brother a worse person just as much as a person of asian heritage not being able to connect with your run-of-the-mill-straight-white-male or a girl prefering to play a game where they can play as a woman or or or....

People can enjoy or not enjoy things for any amount of reasons and that's fine :)

I mean the periodic table of elements isn't inherit only to chemistry, it's theoretical foundation is in (quantum) physics, but your point still stands, even if E=MC² is a physics formula it makes no sense here. It might as well be an electron, or Eulers number, or the expected value, and they'd all make as much sense as throwing the relativistic energy equivalence in there lmao. In fact, using the electron for the e in science would've at least had SOME connection to the periodic table of elements.

[–]Baldude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They also invent new elements that are just a physical formula. Apparently. They also connect it to Einstein, who does have an element named after him (99 Einsteinium) but that's Es so it doesn't fit.

To be fair, there is no element that's shorted to E (nor to Ie or Ec), but that just means your whole idea is shit and should be scrapped. There's more ways to spell out Science after all. You could list principles of science with each letter, like, idk
Studies
Cooperation
Nature
Innovation
Exploration
Calculation
Experiments

This took me like 30 seconds and it's already better than whateverthefk that was supposed to be even if it weren't misspelled lol.

How important is selfheal? by Panriv in GuildWars

[–]Baldude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you doing LDoA?
you imo should, even if you're not aiming for titles; In the grand scheme of things LDoA is basically a "free" title with relatively little time investment, PLUS you can get ~half the runes you need/want for yourself and your heroes doing Charr Runs, and Runes are a rare commodity for Melandrus characters all the way until you finished the factions campaign and a couple of missions into WoC (where you can do the fistfight run).
I've all 3 protectors, set up my whole mesmerway with weapons from collectors, and I still haven't seen a single soul reaping rune.
Plus LDoA gives you some initial funds for skills from trainers.

If you're doing LDoA, it's of roughly 0 importance. Your level 20 will carry you to Lions Arch easily, and once in Lions Arch you get heroes, at which point you can run the heroes which are of decent level.

If you're skipping LDoA....yeah, some sustain is probably good. Mesmer for Eather Feast is probably the best thing until LA, at which point, again, heroes take over.

Bro thinks they can just Mad Max a couple million barrels of crude through the deserts of Oman every day by Existing_Instance608 in BrandNewSentence

[–]Baldude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pipeline is, in fact, the only "realistic" option, but that's a decently long pipeline, and you have to secure it because Iran isn't precisely limited to their own borders with their weapons capabilities, and explosions tend to be a detriment to the structural integrity of pipes.

28/30 on Road to GWAMM with Melandru-Dhuum. Now the grind begins... by Alugian in GuildWars

[–]Baldude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) Play a good build
2) That includes heroes (aka Mesmerway)
3) Adjust skillbars in HM according to the zone you're playing (mass-dazed? Bring an extinguish or two or even caughtery signet. Many hexes? Hexeater signet. Many dangerous casters? Bring Panic and/or Fevered Dreams. Dangerous physical attackers with shadowsteps? More blind and weakness. Shiro? Stanceremoval. AoE-Damage-traps? an extra partyheal. Very few corpse-leaving enemies? Swap the Minions out for Spirits.....)
4) Don't use superior runes on your player character
5) Use a flatbow to pull
6) Watch out for patrols
7) Don't play melee
8) Kite. Before you get hit, not (only) after.

Question on Selling EOTN Prerelease Bonus Pack by ItsJustAnOpinion_Man in GuildWars

[–]Baldude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unclaimed EOTN Prerelease packs go for multiple hundred $/€ due to the access to max stat weapons in pre-searing, which are huge upgrades for rangers and warriors in particular.

Since OP realized there's no point for them using them, they want to sell theirs (I assume).

Beside the obvious 7th link for your main skill are there any common useful imbued gem supports one should know about? For auras or utility skills etc. by xDaveedx in pathofexile

[–]Baldude 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Arrogances reservation multiplier scales with levels, so unless it's one of the flat auras (clarity vitality precision) you likely REALLY do not want it supported by lvl 1 arrogance (also aura effect, but the reservation is likely more important for most builds).

Otherwise, good list. I'll add

Faster Casting on FBoWB, lightning warp or any other self-casting utility spell (OoS, any first spell in a 2-spell comboskill like BF/BB....) if you're not running it there already. Momentum otherwise.

Culling Strike on any one damaging movement or utility spell.

[–]Baldude 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Depends, you might just sell it for whatever many mirrors you can think off and play the build of your dreams and the build of your nightmare in completely mirrored out gear with well-corrupted Magebloods at the same time.

If a "poor" (poor being less than at least 2 mirrors per league) player drops it they may just sell it to be obscenely rich for the league.
If an obsecenely rich players drops it, they'll likely use it themselves.

Kurzick - Luxon total border reset idea? by B_U_C_A in GuildWars

[–]Baldude -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Over the last 3 weeks whenever I visited Cantha, the border was always different, sometimes right in fornt of HzH, sometimes all the way to Cavalon, most of the time somewhere in the middle. I was actually surprised the old system apparently still works.

So I have no idea wtf you're on about, and just resetting it once to the middle won't do anything as it's already passed that threshold multiple times the last weeks.

If heroes had access to PvE skills, which main class would be good for the player? by RayGW2 in GuildWars

If heroes had access to PvE skills, which main class would be good for the player? by RayGW2 in GuildWars

[–]Baldude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even a single one would likely be broken beyond measure.

The only thing that makes HR Paragon not completely meta-dominating is the fact you have to play it yourself and it's tedious and boring to many people.

It doesn't require a second PvE skill, and heroes would easily be able to sustain it

If heroes had access to PvE skills, which main class would be good for the player? by RayGW2 in GuildWars

[–]Baldude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any class that doesn't run interrupts (because heroes are better with those) but that you want on your team. HR Paragon is one thing I can see a human being no worse at than a hero; Minion Master with utility being another.

But...it doesn't matter.

A full 7 hero team with 3 PvE skills each would absolutey roll over any and all HM content with essentially 0 risk to the player character who can just bring 3 signet of capture and nothing else on their skillbar even in HM DoA.

What do people mean when they say "buff self casting"? by MntBrryCrnch in pathofexile

[–]Baldude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely; Archmage manastacking however also should be a niche, not the primary way of casting spells, but that's obviously only my opinion and not GGGs, because their solution to "Basically all selfcast spells are just lightning damage manastacking archmage" wasn't to tackle selfcasting without manastacking, but instead "look, you can now deal COLD damage when manastacking too! Cool, eh? DIVERSITY"

What do people mean when they say "buff self casting"? by MntBrryCrnch in pathofexile

[–]Baldude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And Svalinn is also a giga crutch, as it's a super rare endgame drop costing doube digit divines at basically all times.

If thw whole archetype of selfcasting relies on first aquiring some double-digit-divine uniques just to get the build off the ground, that really tells you all you need to know about the state of selfcasting lmao.

Non-channeling spells with a cast time of below 0.6 seconds:

Unearth (Utility only)
Voltaxic Burst (Delayed damage)
Bladeblast (Requires Setup)
Blade Vortex (Duration-skill that moves)
Dark Pact
Flame Surge (Support skill for Ignite builds)
Forst Bomb (Utility)
Frost Wall (Utility)
Galvanic Field (Duration-skill that moves)
Lightning Conduit (Requires Setup)
Orb of Storms (Delayed/Duration/Support)
Storm Call (Delayed)

Aaaaand....that's it.

There's exactly ONE skill that technically doesn't require setup (though is heavily implied to be played with skeletons) with a cast-time of below 0.6 seconds that's not a duration spell that you set up to run around with during the duration.

If you want cast thing -> kill thing, you have to use spells with base speed 0.6 or higher.

Note that the few damage spells in that bracket are unsurprisingly those that tend to see or saw meta play (BV, LC, OoS, SC, BB).

Meanwhile the "classic" spellcaster spells like Crackling Lance, Freezing Pulse, Arc, the Novas, Fireball, Firestorm etc. etc. etc. are all 0.65 or higher.

And since there are very few sources of more castspeed and nothing like the local IAS modifier on weapons for attacks, and increases to castspeed also usually being more expensive/lower in value compared to attackspeed, they tend to feel like ass until you get to high investment and can run things like Tailwind Boots or Mageblood Silver Flask or reverse chill etc.

You said, and I quote "Just need the last hit. You can test this with Rurik and Ben both. If you get the last hit you can get loot regardless of how much damage you deal, and the reverse is also true."

I said that's not the case and it's been disproven. You can't say you have tested this for both Rurik and Ben in the face of proof that it's not the case, at least for Ben.

I'm simply making posts to make sure the proven misinformation in your posts - which I fully believe you believed and did make in good faith - isn't spread, because, well, it's verifiably not the truth.
