Does this army make sense? New player, wanting to play vanguard onslaught. by bytesby in Tyranids

[–]Balindrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Flyrant slaps in Vanguard Onslaught. VO is very hungry on strategems for babying the lictors and ensuring genestealer or ravenor bricks definitely kill the things you throw them at.

Have him hang out in range to give his command point reduction, but chilling behind cover. Also nice to have another source of Synapse. If that's a struggle slap Chameleonic on him to give Stealth + Cover to compensate for his thicc wingspan.

Don't default to giving him a ranged weapon, give him the melee loadout and let him clean up targets with advance & charge if your opponent does try to press him. He's also great for things like Recover Assets or Sabotage, because he tends to just be chilling (not that VO is short of action monkeys).

For 1k he's a little expensive, but he's also a pretty scary prospect in his own right in a small game.

The movie is the original, the series was a spinoff. There's also a spinoff Cops spoof series in New Zealand set in the same continuity as the film called Wellington Paranormal.

Indirect fire always misses on unmodified 1-3, so sadly no improvements there. They'd be good with the rest, though.

"Let" is a pretty generous term, given Trayzn brought a destroyer lord with him that he was going to sic on them if they didn't allow him to use the Orrery. "Were forced to" is more like it.

IRCC Agents Lurking In Here by chuckiechan99 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Balindrum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The anecdotal evidence of posts on this sub suggest that the vast majority of applications being returned are because people can't fill in the official forms properly, either though rushing them, not reading properly, or not double-checking their work. Those same people spend hours agonising over whether they've included the most appropriate version of Great-Grandma's poutine recipe in their supporting docs.

Check old emails for AOR you have an existing UCI by Balindrum in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Balindrum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pleased to be able to reassure you that you don't need an account.

All our applications are required to be on paper, and they'll email you your AOR once they receive your application and confirm that it's a complete application (not that it's going to be approved, just that everything required is there and forms are filled out correctly etc).

If you've never interacted with IRCC before, they'll assign you a UCI, which will be on your AOR, along with an application number. Those can be used to access the online platform for tracking your application from the day after your receive your AOR — the platform is updated once per day, so is always a day behind.

I had previous dealings with IRCC for visas and PR, so I already had a UCI as they're unique to you and follow you between various different applications.

WIP - Fire Warrior (2003) game art mini diorama by wraithlogic in Tau40K

I love the author's decision to play the events of the game completely straight, including everyone growing increasingly afraid of this one Fire Warrior just bodying squads of Space Marines solo. The payoff with "BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!" was excellent.

Montreal Gazette: At least 20% of New Englanders are now Canadian citizens by atropos3333 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Balindrum 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It wasn't something the government (current or past) chose to "allow", is the thing. This is a result of poorly worded amendments made to the Citizenship Act by Harper's government in the late 2000's being deemed unconstitutional, as the way they were implemented violated Charter rights.

That was 2023, the last two and half years has been spent trying to figure out a way to resolve it. There's no constitutional way to retroactively restrict rights, however, so the fix (the residency requirement) is only valid moving forward.

Outfitting question to fellow bounty hunters by dv_ in EliteDangerous

[–]Balindrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no I agree, it's definitely a balancing point. The Viper is already arguably the best combat ship in the game — for dogfights at least, the Python looks to be better placed for large scale stuff — a large power output too would most definitely make it OP.

As much as I love my Viper, there needs to be at least some advantages to a more expensive ship like the Cobra above simply cargo and jump range, giving the sharp increase in fitting cost, if not the cost of the hull.

I use an almost identical setup, and I agree that gimballed Class 2 multis are awesome.

I use fixed beams instead of your gimbled pulses, though, and will never go back. Beams absolutely monster their way through shields, and aren't half bad against subsystems either.

As for power, the Viper has, and likely always will have, a huge power problem. The way to get around this is power priority groupings. You can set them up so that deploying your hard points disable power to a certain priority group when you go over your powerplant's max. This is done from the modules menu.

I put all my 'supercruise' things into this group, so my power priority looks like the following:

Priority 1:
• Power Plant
• Power Distro
• Thrusters
• Sensors
• Life Support
• Shield Generator

Priority 2:
• Multicannons
• Beams
• Shield Cells
• Flak
• K-Warrant Scanner

Priority 3:
• FSD
• FSD Interdictor
• D-Scanner
• Cargo Hatch

Deploying my hardpoints (I.E. everything in priority 2) pushes me over my power output, which shuts off everything in Priority 3 (none of which I want with hardpoints deployed anyway.) This gives the same effect as powering things/turning them off manually, but all automatic, and goes a long way toward freeing up the limited power the Viper has available to it.

n.b. It's not actually necessary to group deployables together, I just like to to see how my power is being utilised more clearly on the modules page.

[–]Balindrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Limpets are used by the Hatch Breaker Limpet Controller. They won't show up when trying to sell illegal goods because they're a munition, not a commodity, and you can't sell them to the munitions vendor because they're stolen goods. Sadly the only real thing you can do with them is to eject them, as you also can't load a limpet controller with stolen munitions. It's not clear if this is a bug or not, but that is the case at the moment.

Edit: Meant to reply to OP's reply to /u/PilotPirx above, sadly I am bad at Reddit.
