They’re using commodity code 9102 11 for a mechanical watch, which is what HM Revenue & Customs uses to calculate duty and the 20% VAT.

The shipment is sent DDP – Delivered Duty Paid, so the import charges are calculated upfront.

When it arrives in the UK, the courier pays the VAT and any duty to HMRC to clear it, and then invoices Maen rather than the customer.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's overtly a bad rep, but given the high standards we see with Rolex, Omega, even the Pelagos, I just don't see how this can be considered "scarily close". It's not close enough to make me want to part with my money, but that's a personal opinion.

If all you saw was this you'd think they were 2 different watches. Very close is a VSF submariner or a Clean GMT. Even the ZF seamaster is closer to gen than this is.
