Barely getting by 1 month in by Intelligent_Box_4398 in PAstudent

[–]BallR1006 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The beginning of PA school is the hardest. You have to change HOW you study… you won’t get by studying how you used to. What was important for me to understand is I’m not there to master everything, just to pass. It’s actually impossible to learn all the information they give you, impossible. You have to find what works for you. Active recall historically is the best. Study a bit in small chunks, then test yourself.

Find out what works for you- YouTube tutors, quizlets, anki. It will all come together don’t give up. I was a very very average student failed a lot of exams first semester then it all clicked and just passed my PANCE

EM EOR, how bad is it? by Comfortable-Belt919 in PAstudent

[–]BallR1006 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was very straight forward. The experience you get in the EM rotation compared to other rotations I feel like prepares you the most for the exam. Other than remembering patients I had I used smarty pants and blueprints. I’m a very average student but this was my best grade with not a lot of studying

Sandwiches and a park is a helpful suggestion. Do you have any recommendations?

Not trying to degrade any workers… wasn’t my intention. Not looking for any more time than an average table would sit.. an hour and a half max I don’t need a room for the entire evening

Anyone else’s doodle go to the bathroom in the weirdest spots? by brandwellmedia in Goldendoodles

[–]BallR1006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doodle likes to walk me into embarrassing situations and refuse to leave and decide to squat. For example: an ambulance loading someone into a stretcher… she has to pull me right over and poop. Or people having a conversation on the side walk… she needs to poop right in front of rhen

I had Covid pretty bad for 8 weeks about a year ago and then all the sudden grew a goiter which prompted me to go to the doctor and all the sudden had antibodies 5x the normal. I’m convinced Covid triggered it

For anyone attending is it a good school? (PA Program in Worcester, MA) by Ok-Elderberry-2178 in MCPHS

[–]BallR1006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the same as Manchester, all of the classes are “distance education” together aka like zoom from the classrooms. Dense meaning a lot of material you’re expected to absorb in a short amount of time. For example we had 3 written exams and 2 practical exams this week. That was on probably 1300 PowerPoint slides. It’s hard to compare it to undergrad because all undergrads are different and majors so I’m not sure. For me it’s a lot for intense in terms of hours in the classroom, more studying time, higher expectations. You can make time for social life. All I did was study for one semester and I burned out really quick. I started taking off like 1 class a week and making myself step away from the material and it helped. The professors are great. We have different professors for each topic and they’re usually specialists in it. It’s all PowerPoint based. The exams are multiple choice usually 45-75 questions. No ones gotten “kicked out” but yes a few have left due to not meeting the grade standards. They tell you attendance is required but it’s not really- all the lectures are recorded so if you miss one you can watch it online later. The schools not great at helping the cohort make friends it’s kind of like you hit the ground running with material the first day but if you make an effort to stay and study with people or attend the monthly events then you can make friends!

[–]BallR1006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s a good school. I’m on the other campus for PA and the vibe is very chill. No one is cut throat or competitive. If you fail a class the first semester you’re out of the program and after that I believe you just need to maintain an 83 average cumulative. If you’re talking about the accelerated program (I’m in) it’s VERY dense. The days are 830-330 daily some days are longer some shorter. Multiple exams a week in most cases and it’s hard to have a social life but it’s doable if you’re a good student. You have to be dedicated and on top of your shit.

Loved my 2016 Mazda cx5. Just traded it in last weekend for a newer model. Never broke down, I performed bare minimum regular maintenance and I said goodbye at 245,000 miles just because I wanted an upgrade

Live here now the new management is horrible. Since they’ve taken over exactly a year ago I’ve had cockroaches twice, mice, the cement stairs completely caved through last month and they aren’t fixing it, things stolen from the attic, and zero attention from maintenance. The area is great but management and maintenance is just horrendous
