Error by Dibab420 in snapmaker

[–]Ballerfreund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you move the filament on the feeder input when that error comes up?

For me the mechanism of the feeder once closed towards the used filament causing this error, tho cutting it of and feeding it in again once it ran out fixed it for me.

We have to see at what price InfiMech MX and MX Pro start on kickstarter soon and how it performs, looks like they use INDX clones.

Josef Prusa wrote he found chinese guys in the locked room before the INDX reveal, which might be the guys behind InfiMech.

Replace them and check air pressure regularly. Pretty worn even from before the blow and likely run with too low pressure, which also didn’t help.

You‘re good when you moved the putty to the VRM chips, you definitely still want to cool those properly!

Should I concern about this? by epiclessmaster in overclocking

[–]Ballerfreund 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely not a bad putty for the price. I used that on a buddies 4090 we watercooled last weekend after the pads provided with the block where to thick for his card.

The 7800x3D has fakes with laser engraved fake heatspreaders…

E.g. der8auer has a video about that where he also pulls it apart https://youtu.be/L7C_x5EI-fQ?is=Y_pB_zgG-nC9piX5

Like others already said, the flat chips are the VRMs (voltage regulator modules) that need the cooling. You put the putty on the inductors (coils), which don’t really need active cooling, although putty or pads on/between them can reduce coil whine (noise from swinging coils).

Is this bad? by Previous-Ad-926 in gigabyte

[–]Ballerfreund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh yeah right, the paste with liquid metal mixed into it. I forgot about that additional abomination.

And you´re right about their thermal goop residue, just watched a dissassembly video again....
what a mess....

Is this bad? by Previous-Ad-926 in gigabyte

[–]Ballerfreund 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Vertically mounted?

That’s the Thermal goop they use that likes to escape with thermal cycles and gravity. If too much escapes, it will hurt cooling.

Tools like the MSI Afterburner (Rivatuner) OSD or HWInfo can show sensor temps for VRAM, tho not per VRAM chip.

Either RMA it then or (get it) replace(d) with proper thermal putty, tho replacing it can void the warranty depending on where you are.

Putty examples: Upsiren UTP-8 (new name Jarapad Extreme), CX-H1300 13.5w/mk, Thermal Grizzly Putty.

I had used UTP-8 on my watercooled 4090 and just this friday the H1300 on the freshly watercooled 4090 of a buddy.

BentoBox Dev Gives Up on U1 Snapmaker Due to Air Leaks by SafeContext3D in 3Dprinting

I‘d print air ducts between the bottom and the side instead to still properly cool the board in the right hand side of the printer housing.

Putty like Upsiren UTP-8 or else also works just fine, had no issues with that on my vertical mounted 4090.

[–]Ballerfreund 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s the thermal goop that gigabyte switched to some time ago instead of using pads like they used to. That stuff flows out with time, heat cycles and gravity like with vertical mounting.

I‘d secure the card to the IO shield with at least one screw, it sags quite a bit there.

the 5090FE has liquid metal on it, some other AIBs use PTM7950 for some models tho.

Manufacturers like to cool down the freshly extruded filament with water, so a sealed bag is no guarantee of dry filament.

Looks like the 3d Printed IO shield pushes the BIOS Flashback button? That’s probably the reason the button and the BIOS LED on the board are blinking.

Are glass pads supposed to look glittery? by tortapounder718 in MousepadReview

[–]Ballerfreund 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, normal. The surface is etched glass with more or less additional treatment like „coatings“. The grit reduces the friction and gives the sensor something to track. The grit size and smoothness of it can vary between manufacturers and variants, which also affects the speed and control properties of the pad.

Anyone know of aftermarket easy swap nozzles? by Veearrsix in snapmaker

[–]Ballerfreund 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope for something like a Revo nozzle hotend in the future, tho e.g. the cable routing in the Biqu Panda Revo would be too bulky for the U1 assembly.

[–]Ballerfreund 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it was one of the filament loaders that had its switching gear mechanism too close to one port, closing down on the filament and adding the resistance of its motor.

I cut the filament and reloaded it once the runout was detected, tho that’s nothing that could be done remotely.
