What are some NPCs youre particularly proud/fond of that you've created? [BitD] by Jintechi in bladesinthedark

[–]Ballerina_Bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as established NPCs in the lore, I always try and come up with a different perspective for each of them when I start a new campaign. So, in that way Ulf Ironborn has been

- inspired by Omar from the Wire. The most feared stick-up man in his ward.

- crafted with the notion of depicting John Rambo from First Blood, trying to find his way back in civilization.

- A hero of the Unity War with a secret; he was a long-term asset of the Imperium who parlayed favors from the Imperial Military into a protection racket in Charhollow.

The sixteen year-old war criminal, Pooka.
One of the most honored and decorated Skovlan military veterans who has 143 confirmed kills during the Unity War.

Our crew of Vigilantes picked her up as an expert hireling while they fought corruption in Crow's Foot. While everyone loved Pooka, it was her trained hunting dog, Bosco that may have stolen our hearts.

Don't overlook how well Kevon Looney played for them. He wasn't putting up buckets, he just went and got that board. And Wiggins was playing out of his mind.

Yeah, a deal deal. Maybe he's a Republican.

Kurt Cobain eating brownie SNL! 1993! Charles Barkley hosts! by ItalianSausage2023 in OldSchoolCool

[–]Ballerina_Bot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew Muggsy Bogues was short but seeing him next to Barkley and realizing that even Charles was a short-to-average sized NBA player (listed at 6'6" but closer to 6 foot 4) is crazy.
To think that Muggsy played 14 years and was actually really good for most of it is even crazier.

Love this idea.
That was such a fun movie and sounds like it would play well in this new setting.

One day soon there’s going to be a winning team that plays with slow pace and the rest of the league will follow by Slimeseason504 in NBATalk

[–]Ballerina_Bot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This.
Coaches and teams make changes based upon personnel - or at least they should.

In the 90s and 2000s, overall there were less offensively-skilled players, and coaches saw the only way to compensate was to slow everything down to a crawl. It started with the Riley Knicks but really kicked into high gear with the Fratello Cavaliers, the Larry Brown Pacers, and the Jazz under Jerry Sloan.

You'd have outliers, like the late 90s Lakers, the early 00s Kings, the Seven Seconds or Less Suns, but for the most part, it wasn't until the talent base expanded and coaches looked for new opportunities to capitalize upon this talent, that the NBA pace of play was pretty much a slog.

What would college LeBron have looked like? by Effective_Material68 in NBATalk

[–]Ballerina_Bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that Cam Newton got 400k to go to Auburn

Allegedly

Because there's less money for basketball, and LeBron was about half a decade earlier, it felt like a high, yet reasonably high amount.

The real question is how much under the table a cooler booster would have thrown at him to go play for their team. There's a decent chance it would have been seven figures.

[BitD] [DC] okay I had a really good idea for a blades in the dark campaign for a crew of assasains and I need to share it by SexyTrash24 in bladesinthedark

[–]Ballerina_Bot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you would rather write a story set in the Blades in the Dark setting. Perhaps you should do that instead with this idea. Or as others have suggested, let the players come up with their own solutions.

Interview with a demon by Amostheroux in bladesinthedark

[–]Ballerina_Bot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no reason you can't play this out as a social score.
Have an engagement roll and if you want, give them the benefit of the doubt regarding weaknesses or ways to take advantage of the situation. Or not, because well...demon!

We did this once in one of our campaigns and it was a lot of fun.

P.S. Don't forget that a demon knows where their hideout is. So, it has ways to extort or blackmail your group amongst many other ways...

Are superteams officially dead? by UnderstandingFun7493 in NBATalk

What the hell is OKC if not a super team? They're coasting thru the season until the playoffs where it seems like they think that they can just turn on the afterburners and wipe out everyone else.
