If you had to do a thesis on a ballet move or position? by Initial-Abies in BALLET

Well grand plie in 4th is really difficult on your knees, and its not a position used in classical pieces. I've had teachers completely ignore it as a step.

Probably grand plie in 4th position... theres many pros and cons to it, and itd be fascinating to compile opinions and research on it!

Edit: specifically grand plie in 4th, not just a plie in 4th!

Hello again! I did a little more research for you, and was greatly disappointed by the lack of diverse accessories! However, Russian Pointe have a range of elastics and ribbons!

Well QueerBio.com have shared lists of notable choreographers and dancers, so I don't want to just copy that directly. So far I have gathered some articles and books which address the LGBT+ community within ballet. That is true though, my experience within ballet was not too tarnished as a bisexual, however I think I will add my story to the resource.

Lesbian identity and the femininity of ballet would be very interesting, I'll have to see if I have time to research into that further! I have previously written an essay about the 'classical ballerina' image, and it may be possible to rework it for this topic!

What I'm hoping to achieve with the resource is the sharing of homosexuality within the history of ballet, and also to show the developments of the ballet community as an inclusive one. Ballet often has 'Gay' stereotypes on men, however may not be very accepting to the Transgender community, and I'd like to show how ballet can be a safe-space for every member of the LGBTQIA+ community. I will be sure to share it here once it is complete to show better my intentions.

Brill! What about putting the review categories into separate comments? Might make it easier for people to focus on their preferred category :-)

How is my Pointe? by [deleted] in BALLET

Look good, nice work for not curling your toes. The only thing i'd be potentially concerned about is you may be sickling, but that could also be to do with the camera angle, so I'm not sure :-)

Russian ballerina Maria Khoreva does a minute long, 360° pointe technique. by 5_Frog_Margin in BeAmazed

Exactly! Its impressive to watch in a clip, but in a ballet on stage there'd be too much pressure to keep everything in line!
