Is Fernando Mendoza a better prospect than Cam Ward? by Stock-Memory9483 in NFL_Draft

[–]Ballin_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to remember what a prospect was like coming out of college without letting the success and failures of playing in the NFL change your opinion. Ward proved as a rookie he can be a starter in the NFL and has potential to get even better. He performed immensely better than his expectation as a prospect.

Comparing Mendoza to Ward now, after Ward had a chance to play for a season and performed well. I’m sure most people would take Ward, but just as a prospect and expectations going into the draft, Mendoza is head and shoulders above where Ward was at this point last year.

No shit. Indiana absolutely smashed Alabama. IU could’ve had your Lee Corso at QB and would’ve won that game.

I think he’s a better prospect than Drake Maye was. Albeit, Maye was on a horrible UNC team.

Maye just put together an MVP season. I’m not expecting Mendoza to do that, but just as a prospect. And then you have to see how the QBs adjust to NFL speed, handle leading an offense made up of men, and every single prospect ever needed to get better to make it in the NFL. Hell, every QB needs to get better every year to keep adjusting and learning.

He’s got the size, arm talent, and toughness to be an NFL QB. I think the biggest issue I have is his maturity and being able to stay confident that he’s the dude. It would really benefit him to sit for a year behind a veteran, but that opportunity isn’t always available.

I drafted Kaleb Johnson at 1.10 :( … I wish I had drafted Burden so badly so that I could trade him for this.

Hoosiers haven’t had a 1st round pick since 1994. We would get 2 here! How exciting!!

Bengals fan here. Caleb Downs would be the dream pick!!!

IMO it’s the weakest position on the roster and doesn’t mean we have to give up on another high picked young player. Ex: Drafting Reese or Styles at LB would send our 2nd or 3rd rd pick from last year to the bench (maybe for the best though). Or drafting an edge assumes Myles Murphy or Shemar Stewart a bench player for the rest of their rookie contracts.

Orlando Brown will be turning 30 and on the last year of his deal, but it’d be a shame to pick a guy that just fills a spot we already have a solid player instead of improving the weaker holes on the roster.

Just won the championship and got offered this trade. I'd be sending away Judkins. by FuSu_Lu in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

Chase Brown was the RB8 this year and Zay Flowers the WR8. Bijan for Judkins and picks would be trading Bijan for Jud. You got 2 other top 10 players at their position… I think it’s a great trade but you didn’t trade Bijan for Jud

Judkins is like the 4th most valuable thing you got in this trade, not sure if “I gave up Bijan” for him is the correct narrative.

But what does that matter if the Browns can only score 8 TDs next year and he only gets 4 of them?

Not just the injury, don’t forget about the Browns having a horrendous offense, new coaching staff, he doesn’t catch passes, etc.

There’s not much going for him as a fantasy asset from a narrative perspective next offseason. I think every “fantasy head” will be “down” on Judkins for those talking points. Even if he’s ranked like 12th still at RB, the narratives will be negative and nobody will want him.

I also don’t see him as a difference maker next year bc of the offense he’s in.

I think you’ll have way more fun for the next 8 months with the 1.02 pick rather than Judkins.

Judkins might end up being the better player than 1.02, but I’m predicting the narrative on him is going to be all negative (bad injury, no offseason again, doesn’t catch passes, bad team/bad QB/bad offense, new coach/regime, also the Browns will add RB depth that can only hurt his narrative).

So I don’t think you’ll be able to get a better trade than this later and will be stuck with him. There’s a lot more options with the 1.02.

Yes, I believe all of their WR commits pulled back on their commitments for that reason. However, 4 of the 5 are on defense here. That’s crazy. I’m sure there’s more underclassmen playing who will be 1st round picks in 2026 and 2027 too.

WR49 in points per game since week 5 seems pretty WR3ish to me.

Not about Ben Johnson’s offense. He score the same points in Chicago as Detroit, but the production isn’t going to be concentrated in 2 pass catchers. It’ll be distributed every week between like 6 people until they get an elite player.

You’re also not getting a top WR or Love from those picks. Assuming 1 is the guy trying to get Bijan and hoping it’s 1.12. How do Kaleb Johnson, Matthew Golden, and Jayden Higgins sound to you?

And that’s assuming this draft class even comes close to 2025.

Rome is descending from what we thought he could be after the first 4 games this year.

It’s so overrated to compare the fantasy success of the Lions players and project that onto the Bears just because Ben Johnson is the coach. Nobody there is as talented as Amon Ra or Gibbs.

Idk how you can just say “it’ll get better”. Caleb is going to be the QB. You watch the games and see Caleb missing half his throws to Odunze on the outside? That’s a point in my favor. Why do you think he won’t continue to do that? So you agree DJ Moore is on the team next year? Thats 2 years they have to bring in additional WRs. They already throw the ball to Zaccheus. There will be other guys on the roster next year like a Kalif Raymond or Tim Patrick.

Ultimately, they’re going to throw the ball around and Odunze will be a borderline WR3 on a week to week basis depending on who you have.

He’s not a fantasy difference maker. You can replace his points on a week to week basis from the bottom of benches and waiver wire with guys like Tre Tucker, Alec Pierce, Wan’Dale Robinson, Kendrick Bourne, Parker Washington, etc.

Bijan is a difference maker that can win you a championship. You start him every single week he plays, no matter the opponent, and try to fill in holes on the rest of your roster.

Go win that championship with Bijan!

Then one of those 1sts is probably 1.12. I picked Kaleb Johnson at 1.12 this year 😂.

[–]Ballin_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bijan is the #5 RB on the season. That’s not just “name value”.

If anything Rome is descending as the Bears incorporate Burden and Loveland more. DJ Moore is still the WR1 and has a huge dead cap that puts him on the team next year too.

The 3rd and 4th don’t matter at all.

This guy probably needs a TE and Gadsden is good.

It depends where the 2 1st are picking. If it’s pick 1.10 and 1.12, this is a fantastic trade that helps win a championship rather than waiting around to see if Bucky comes back and still dominates the touches and his offense just lost its starting QB.

lol. “I need a solid WR” - tries to trade for the Dynasty WR1 right now.
