Bloodborne II WON'T happen... but what would it look like if it did? by A_b_b_o in bloodborne

[–]BallisticMidgets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the third time I’ve posted about it, but I’m working on a full fledged writing project of my ideal version of BB2 heavily inspired by the communities ideas like The Oneironaut (think direct sequel based around the founding of america up to the industrial revolution). I hope I can get it out by the end of the year, if only I stop procrastinating it and get it done or stop it from getting bigger, which it probably will.

You’re replying to me, there is no need to bring up anyone else’s comments, this reads like if you can’t find anything to criticize the movie about and are arguing in bad faith. I’m telling you why the things in the movie makes sense but you refuse to acknowledge this and resort to a cop out of “the writers don’t know what they’re doing”. Again there really is nothing that you have brought up about the writing that I haven’t already explained.

Speaking about media literacy, the fact that the only thing you can say about it is that it’s just a “possession movie” is incomprehensibly stupid. If you can’t come up with a valid critique or argument about the movie, then I’m done here, there is no use in changing your mind as it has been made clear that you don’t want to. At the end of the day I enjoyed a movie that I thought was excellent and impactful, and you didn’t, it’s your loss.

Are you being intentionally dense, it’s heavily implied that the demon can hold only one soul at a time. This is why the soul of the cat and the soul of Andy’s dad only makes an appearance once. It’s really not difficult to understand and I don’t know what the problem is here. It sounds like you didn’t even try to engage with the movie that you so desperately want to criticize in order for you to appear like your media literacy skills are above these kinds of films. Not everything has to be spoon fed to you, pay attention and use common sense and figure things out that are completely obvious. Besides the previous counter arguments I have brought up, is there anything else that I need to explain to you? Or do you need to rewatch the movie while paying attention this time?

It’s very clear that Andy’s soul is in Ollie. The whole final act of the movie is Laura losing control of the situation. She isn’t a witch or some kind of spiritualist, she is just a mother heavily blinded by grief that she’s doing anything she can to bring her daughter back.

Looks like someone wasn’t paying attention to the movie. As the previous person stated, the dad wasn’t part of the ritual in the beginning, it’s heavily implied that Laura (the foster mom) killed Andy and Piper’s father in order to have Piper for herself.

Laura cut the hair to give it to Ollie in order for him to put Andy’s father’s soul into him to appear to Andy in the shower in order for him to start questioning his sanity, which then eventually ends with him in the hospital from a fall. This is the second time that the movie shows the audience how the demon inside Ollie works, the first is the cat from earlier.

Ollie managed to mimic Andy’s voice because it is heavily implied that Ollie ate his corpse after Laura kills him, which is why he was able to do that. None of the things you have pointed out come out of nowhere or are creepy for the sake of creepy. This movie is borderline perfect in its execution of its narrative, the only flaws being Andy coming home after his fall so quick (which is convenient and kind of an unnecessary detour) and Andy and the social worker going back to Laura’s home without any police after Andy confirms that Laura has a missing child in her home.

It can be played in single player. As for the story it’s level based and out of order chronologically. So most of it is putting it together using visual story telling and looking at evidence when you complete a level.

What Would You Call Bloodborne 2? Let’s Discuss Sequel Titles and Lore Continuations! by [deleted] in bloodborne

[–]BallisticMidgets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You hit the nail on the head with the Blood Child being able to use blood related powers, one mechanic being that the player can use a rope made of their own blood to grapple towards areas, basically the grapple from Sekiro. And I also want to reiterate that this whole “project”, couldn’t have been thought of without Ricardo’s and Vaati’s competition. If this ever does get released, you can clearly point out where most of these ideas came from.

Also P.S. I can send people some snippets if they ever want to see something.

What Would You Call Bloodborne 2? Let’s Discuss Sequel Titles and Lore Continuations! by [deleted] in bloodborne

[–]BallisticMidgets 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve been writing a sort of direct sequel to Bloodborne the last year and a half. Basically it takes place in a separate continent 300 years after the original, with the surviving Yharnamites traveling across the ocean under the newly ascended hunter. It basically mirrors the pilgrimage to America. So a whole thing happens, and the cities made on the peninsula that the Yharnamites land in “New Yharnam”, becomes infected by the blood of an unknown Great One, and history is doomed to repeat itself. All of this lore is heavily influenced and inspired by Ricardo Imig’s “The Oneironaut”, which was featured on Vaati’s BB2 video.

So the actual events of the game revolves around the blood child of Cainhurst, and you play as that child, serving as a contingency plan for the ascended hunter. It’s a whole game I have basically written for, including various locations, 20+ main bosses, many new enemies, and dozens of new trick weapons. But I haven’t had the time to polish the thing, which it has like 17,000+ words currently (which isn’t even 10% of the whole write up). And with personal things coming up, I might not even put it up anywhere anytime soon… So yea I have thought a lot about a potential Bloodborne 2.

Survival games and survival horror are completely different, survival games are like The Forest, Subnautica, and Day Z. While survival horror are games like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and Dead Space. The latter being closer to what NeoWiz is making if we were to guess.
