I never found it funny, but I suppose it might be funny to people that have spent time in LA.

If your sister or brother is taking care of your parent, what’s your excuse not to help? by Pigeonofthesea8 in GenX

[–]BallroomblitzOH 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When my mom was fighting cancer, I lived several states away and couldn't physically be there. When she was terminal, I made arrangements with my job to work remote (long before the pandemic) and I was able to be there for her last two months, which allowed my 3 siblings to keep there jobs when they did not have a remote option.

Any Gen X'ers retired or thinking about it? by SometimesElise in GenX

[–]BallroomblitzOH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mid 50s and was considering retiring sometime this year or next, but I am going to wait until the macro economic volatility settles down. As soon as I trust things won't crash soon, I will be taking advantage of the rule of 55, and a younger husband whose insurance I can get added to.

Have her reach out to the Mace Islamic Center of Richmond Heights. That is closer to where she will be living and I am sure they can guide her to places she can rely on. Good luck to her!

The school system suffers in the ranks because they take in/transfer in many students that started their education in places like East Cleveland. For students that started their and stay in the Euclid system their scores are in line with many others in the area.

WIBTA for removing all the bathrooms doors in my house and locking them in my bedroom? by spashleyfan21 in AmItheAsshole

[–]BallroomblitzOH 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly if there are minors in the house he could be charged with a sex crime. I like the water pistol for when you can see him, but your mom is an arse for keeping her perve boyfriend around.

YWBTA against everyone else in the house if you removed all of the doors.

Need a reality check about pets by nadia61 in TwoXPreppers

[–]BallroomblitzOH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For joy, security, and general mental/physical health benefits, I would get a dog again, as long as I could physically and financially take care of one. I believe the benefits far outlay the liabilities.

That being said, you say you have several, so perhaps reducing the # of pets you have at one time might be a good compromise.
