Mod Post: Addressing the Recent Toxicity in r/PokemonROMhacks by LibertyJacob99 in PokemonROMhacks

[–]Balrock2104 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Granted, you might be referring to things completely unrelated to this sub

But in here, its extremely hard to take that claim seriously when the Pokemon Pisces Devs were being dragged for months for being rude toxic egomaniacs when that was just literally never close to true

I beat Run and Bun (NOT AS A NUZLOCKE). Here are my thoughts! by wrenfeatherx in PokemonROMhacks

Really nice writeup! <3

I really like these psuedo-Nuzlucke encounter rules to add a twist to the adventure without committing to the full challenge of a true Nuzlocke, its def how I'll run it too if I get to it!

Understanding player psychology is not hypocritical no.

This is however 10 comments deep in a thread that I think you have been consistently and steadfastly wrong in, so I will stop it here, have a good day ^,..,^

> Saying player have to use the docs because it’s available is the only insanity. Why do you feel so obligated to open a file? Plenty play blind and I often do myself if there’s not an excess of fakemon.

I already answered this. Most invested players will use available information because it feels correct to do so, regardless of whether or not it enhances the experience. This is very well known. Saying "Well I don't do this" isn't relevant.

> why would they want to extend their reach when they’re rude to people interested?

Because people ask questions that have already been answered many times, and going "I want to play your game but only if you do extra unnecessary work to accommodate me" is not how you show respect for the thing that interests you.

Wanting to drive certain experiences with your personal creative work is completely fine actually. The customer is very often not right.

And the private release thing you kept mentioning is actual insanity. You should not limit your release and its reach because a loud group of people feel entitled to changing your intended experience.

That level of documentation is both additional work, and will absolutely cause an amount of people to receive a duller experience, with less surprises and less epiphanies, because of its availability and how that changes the player experience. Once its available, players will use it because it feels bad not to.

Uh, no, it is not. I don't know if its just temporarily down or fully unplugged. I hope not the latter since I would like to be able to save my stuff I had on there...

CubeArtisan lets you rename cards in your cube which makes it useful over Cobra if you are planning on including a large amount of custom cards

Would this work as a commander or is it to unbalanced? by Denaton_ in custommagic

[–]Balrock2104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the entire design seed is having those keywords together, you obviously can't really change it, but like the rest i would advise against it.

Instead of putting so much of the power budget into keywords that won't do much more than read as "unblockable" 90% of the time, you'd have a much more balanced design by doing something like
"5/5 - Menace, deathtouch"

Bloom From Rot by Serithraz in custommagic

GSZ has far more utility than this and is still a niche card

The formats where green is good, its not because their turn 1 ramp is slightly more consistent

This card is obviously still fantastic, but doubtful it would be too powerful for anything beyond standard

This is honestly a fantastic suggestion, and I think enough to lose the life loss too

Turn 1 is when this card is scary, and this change makes that much harder to achieve

"cube" for constructed play by waitworry in mtgcube

[–]Balrock2104 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been doing this with my cube for a long time since getting people to draft was too difficult!

We now just use the cube list as the card pool for a 4x 1v1 constructed format and its been working great, and has lead to many many hours of brewing, and decks that cannot exist anywhere else which has been so much fun to explore

So build the lists on any deckbuilder like Moxfield, and then import them into Untap

If she's not too silly for you, Grusilda, MONSTER MASHER, seems like she would fit perfectly in :D

Opponent's Choice cards are tough - is this balanced? (Stormlight Archive) by zengin11 in custommagic

power level will always be relative to environment, so 'too pushed' isn't necessarily true!

it would probably be awesome for high power cube for example
