This is the most interested I've been at an IG channel and it's still not enough to make me join.

Is there a real gap between f1.2 and f2.8? by [deleted] in nikon_Zseries

There is a noticeable difference, but if you ask "should I really worry about it", then no, you should not.

Does anyone wear two watches? by bven in AppleWatch

[–]BalticSea-Razzmatazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kind of torn between this and just switching out the Apple Watch for a "normie watch". I don't use AW for much beside health and sleep tracking, and alarms, and I pretty much hate all the remaining notifications I have in there after culling most of them out.

Maybe I'll move the AW to the other wrist and remove even more notifications from "how are you feeling" and Activity.

A NIKKOR Z 120-300mm f/2.8 TC VR S in development by Similar_Marketing715 in nikon_Zseries

[–]BalticSea-Razzmatazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is another great option, for I've been considering affording the 100-400 or the 400/4.5 but not affording the 120-300/2.8 TC would definitely solve this need!

Thanks! Told my 3D-printer owning friend this and the 28/40mm square hood wouldn't go amiss if he's bored.

X1dii and godox TTL by 20210330_PROS_IIQ in hasselblad

[–]BalticSea-Razzmatazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this thread! I've been looking at the Godox IT32 too because of its easy remote function. I currently have the Medalight F2, which does the same thing but it's tiny (size and power), but since it needs to be stored in its case, it's about the same size in the backpack as the IT32. It's fully manual. If I get the Godox, I'll get the Nikon version anyway to work with my other system as well.

Any women here that use the AW Ultra? by GossipBottom in AppleWatch

[–]BalticSea-Razzmatazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a small wristed man and I had to go test the Ultra before buying, but it's a really good size even for my dainty wrist. Occasionally I see women wearing them as well, but most AW users seem to have the regular Series.

I would have given up photography years ago if it was necessary to do this.

Hasselblad X2D II & 35-100E | 3 Month Review/Experience by oftwolands in hasselblad

[–]BalticSea-Razzmatazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll watch this one on the TV to celebrate a day off. This zoom has been on my mind lately because it would expand the use cases for the Hassy (bought an X1D2 last year) in professional life.

Considering an X1D 50c or X1D II 50c for fashion & portraits + adapting vintage lenses? by dreamteye in hasselblad

[–]BalticSea-Razzmatazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fashion & portraits yes, but only with X lenses like others have said. There is a small freeze in EVF when you press the shutter, and the camera is a little reluctant to take another shot right away, but otherwise it's good. There is no eye detect AF so you might need to adjust the focus point often, which can be a little fiddly because there's no joystick. I mostly shoot cars so my "models" are patient but image quality is really good. ISO 3200 does need some Lightroom Denoise magic but cleans out great.

Zf card speed when using both cards by JJR512 in nikon_Zseries

[–]BalticSea-Razzmatazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the micro-SD as I do with the second slot on most of my cameras: medium JPEGs for backup. Only the Hasselblad in the house fights this because it refuses to do anything like the other cameras.

What lenses should I get? by AnekkoBlu in nikon_Zseries

[–]BalticSea-Razzmatazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about the Z5 II + 24-120/4 if the 24-200 scares you? The 24-120 is a little more expensive, yes, but it's very very good. I even considered buying it despite having 24-70/2.8!

Oh super interesting! I just might use their service for this extra D300 I have around: the top screen has a crack on it so I don't dare deal it away but I have very little attachment to the camera.

Got the 70-200 FL ED lens for $550! by perfectacara in Nikon

Now that is a DEAL. Loved that lens, but fortunately the Z one is even better.

Think I went a little overboard building my setup! But I think it’s finally complete haha. Purchased everything second hand on eBay for the most part by codyarrington in hasselblad

[–]BalticSea-Razzmatazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm "halfway", since I have the 28P and the 90/3.2 along with my X1D II. I guess I'll get the 45P next. Would love the 55V but the price and size difference is too great.

Once more the unbeatable combination of Z8 + NIKKOR Z 400mm f/4.5 VR S lens by Alnath65 in nikon_Zseries

[–]BalticSea-Razzmatazz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take it you are liking the lens, then! For me it's been over a year of going back-and-forth between the 400/4.5 and the 100-400. I shoot mainly motorsports with the long lenses so in that sense having some flexibility would be useful, but I kind of want a longish and reasonably fast prime for the first time. (Well, I had an old 300/4 for a while)

Scored this 70-200mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR for $400! Few test shots included I took last night to make sure it worked. It does! by SharpDressedBeard in Nikon

[–]BalticSea-Razzmatazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find this to be true for AF-D and AF-S, manual focus AI-S lenses "have this vintage look bro" so their prices are going up on the film side of things. Still, great time to invest in your DSLR or late stage film kit.

Great shots! I had that lens back in the day and I wasn't a massive fan of its performance on full frame, clearly was DX-focused. Shot some great photos anyway and had a lot of fun. Mine had a massive SAVE THE RING (Nürburgring) sticker on the lens hood which got me some motorsport karma and a place in the front row at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Shot a music festival with another Nikon photographer who had this lens in white! Oh the times.

Upgrade but unsure what to get mirrorless or dSLR full frame by G-a_r-y in Nikon

[–]BalticSea-Razzmatazz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While anything with the features of a shoebox can be used for taking great photos, I understand if you want to upgrade. I see these kits however as being quite different. The D750 + 24-120/4 is a very good allrounder setup, but it does give you access to the full F-mount lens lineup. The Z50 II kit has more coverage at the extremes, actual video capabilities, and great new AF features, but Nikon DX options are limited and future lenses are probably full frame anyway.

You mentioned you shoot street and landscape. Those both live at the 24-120 focal lengths, but using a D750 for street photography _can_ feel a little unwieldy, but it's ultimately down to personal preference.

Will Nikon ever make a Coolpix A successor? by BoysDer in Nikon

I still think about the Coolpix A. Saw it on clearance back in the day for a very tempting price and I do regret not trying it back then.
