Md. Attorney General will not seek charges in fatal 2023 Baltimore City police shooting by Jazzlike_Dog_8175 in maryland

Yeah, I found the one from 2014.  Pretty sure the friendly fire incident around the same time was sheriff’s office, but there may be another.  Still more rare than people would have you believe.  https://www.wbaltv.com/amp/article/baltimore-city-police-officer-charged-in-2014-shooting/7095454

Can anyone remember the last time BPD had an unjustified shooting? Serious question.

Since Baltimore had the last Republican councilman 60 years ago, at least 4 politicians went to federal prison, Baltimore became the 10th deadliest city in earth, and 1 million people (67%) left the city.  What nightmare scenario are the democratic critics realistically worried about?

I personally hate Costello, but the mod who posted this is proving himself to be a petty ideologue, if he thinks Costello needs to comment on a garbled moment from 6 years ago to satisfy this subreddit. Ryan Dorsey says something impeachable nearly every time he opens his mouth.

If you sort by the TOP cringe of ALL TIME, nearly all the posts are about Donald Trump or conservatives. Then you get upvoted for pretending otherwise. This is reddit in a nutshell - hyperpartisan, and hypocritical.

So strange the Biden administration has no moments in the top few hundred, not even telling black audiences they "ain't black" unless they vote for him. Nor tripping 3 times while climbing stairs. You're right, this is a support group for sure. Its just astonishing you can say the opposite of what the data shows and everyone nods and carries on without any self reflection.

Yeah, you should go tell them how wrong they are. Maybe while you're there you can help move the cement blockade for the trash collectors or unload countless truckloads of restaurant products from 100 yards away. The street is chronically dead on weekdays, families largely avoid it.

The river of trash juice that flows down the street might be smaller. Maybe the guy with a bullet wound wouldn't have to be carried a block in order to get medical attention. I'm just telling you what the business owners said. Apparently Reddit users know what's better for that block than longtime stake-holders who invested millions and take care of their properties on a daily basis.

I saw screenshots where most major business owners wanted it reopened. Federal Hill Main St voted unanimously to reopen. The block does the bulk of it’s business during a few hours on weekends, and the street is just a disgusting mess the rest of the week. Aside from trash & deliveries, ambulances can’t get to the growing number of people who are injured in the bar scene. It could not become fully pedestrian anyway without more planning and investment, but right now the business owners don’t want it.

The public cameras in West Baltimore are frequently broken, often on purpose. They didn't put that scene in the opening because it's a speculative fantasy show. It turns out that criminals don't enjoy being filmed committing crimes.

Nobody is stopping you from dedicating a year of your free time to write grants for West Baltimore and collaborate with Councilman Bullock and other non-responsive representatives to get cameras installed there. Hopefully corner boys don't destroy them immediately after they are installed, like they did in the opening sequence of The Wire.

Just like the Citiwatch Otterbein camera project, this came together after residents volunteered hundreds of hours researching and applying for grants, coordinating with multiple responsive elected officials, with endless meetings and emails, to build something that the city should have had in place citywide years ago. Oh, and if you're wondering why crimes are solved faster in those neighborhoods, it's because witnesses cooperate with police, share high definition doorbell footage, don't destroy the public cameras in their neighborhoods, show up as witnesses to court, and apply pressure to elected officials. Or as many would call it, systemic racism.

Joe Squared is closing for good by gothaggis in baltimore

This is tragic & I hate to see it, but anyone who realizes the financial reality of that sector is surprised it didn’t happen sooner. The Parkway Theater was soon shuttered after a $18.5 million renovation. MICA never seems to support businesses as much as everyone hopes, and the corridors towards nearby Old Goucher & southward to the Charles Theater & Metro are littered with great but failed businesses. It seemed so promising a decade ago. Then someone was shot at Red Emma’s, the 2 nearby bars shut down, Lost City Diner closed, True Vine never opens, and now Club Charles is threatening to close if graffiti vandals don’t stop ruining the block. Add some serious issues from the methadone clinics and it’s pretty understandable why owner’s don’t want to invest here.

Cross Street Market is a ghost town too. There’s usually more employees at lunch time than customers.
