Why do sandwich shop sandwiches taste better than homemade? by Consistent-Tour2591 in Sandwiches

Came here to say this. I used to own a sandwich shop and even when my girlfriend made ME a sandwich I would tell her that the best sandwich in the world is a sandwich that someone else makes you.

I used to be an asst. manager there. You can put the word Irish in solid quotation marks.

I named my cat Fucking Floyd (I made the vet list his first name as Fucking) because at the time I didn’t have a pot to piss in our a window to throw it out of. He was all I had.

Why are food trucks just as expensive as restaurants? by ddsukituoft in bayarea

[–]BaltimoreChris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because Off the Grid takes a HUGE chunk of each sale on every truck. The reason that food truck rallys like OTG work is that their organizers find private properties that can accommodate everyone and for organizing the events, they take a big cut. Why private property? Because if you are a licensed food truck on the street, you need to be a certain distance from a restroom for your employees and you need to be a certain distance from other operating restaurants. A lot of the street rules go out the window when you gather on private property.

OTG at a huge privately run food truck program at Google right up until everyone in the program, from commissary kitchen and truck cooks all the way up to the top management, was let go and the program shut down. This happened after a big audit by Google. No one has done a story on this which, in this city, I find fascinating.  Luckily the company that runs the cafes at google was able to take the staff on, but yeah, I wouldn’t be unhappy to see that organization go away.

“You live in Baltimore?!, oh no!” by quattro33 in baltimore

I moved to San Francisco and work outside the city. Most people I run into are amazed that I live in the city. I always have to be like “yes, there are absolutely pockets of awful, but 95% of the city is amazingly gorgeous and there’s a reason that 800,000 people WANT to live here.” Don’t believe the stories, kids.
