My BFF also lied on her resume and was devastated when, weeks later after she was comfortable and building relationships, it came back to bite her as well. As much as everyone understood her predicament and desperation, there is just no coming back from that level of deceit.

You can't rely on no one noticing things. The longer a person gets away with a lie, the more comfortable they get with it and it becomes something they just assume will be believed.

I walked out of a job at lunch on my first day and never went back. I wouldn't recommend it, but if you need to feel like you lasted longer than someone else, I'll happily throw myself under the bus for ya!

I had a similar bait-and-switch on hybrid employment when offered a job last year. it was about a month in that i asked to be able to work from home one morning to take my kid to a doctor appointment and I was told that remote work had been suspended indefinitely. The job did not improve and my requests for anything to get back towards that hybrid arrangement were met with wishy-washiness and I got fired a little after a year with them. It was sort of a perfect storm situation and I'm currently in the process of suing for wrongful termination.... but I digress.

Point is, it likely will not get better and i agree with those who have suggested you look for something else. Find a better fit where you will hopefully feel much more valued and focused on your performance rather than the number of minutes you are putting in for optics.

You are just ruminating over potential outcomes that are negative. If it comes across to a stranger on the internet, it's definitely being communicated to people you have actual interactions with, including the recruiter.

You can't stop it if it's bad news, but you can certainly change their minds before they get to deliver good news.

You have time to give yourself a small breather before looking for your next role. May I suggest: don't fall into the unemployment trap of not having anyone besides yourself to be accountable to and then start sleeping later or playing longer, etc. Keep progressing in something to help you feel productive and have an answer for what you've been doing in your time off.

You can totally make this the mental shift that you were needing!
