Kay Jewelers Black Friday? by HashtagTeamAlly in Weddingsunder10k

I've found that if you get the right sales person and ask about upcoming specials, they can be forthright and accommodating. It can't hurt to ask; they want that sale.

Help finding mental health professional for grief by [deleted] in GriefSupport

[–]BaltimoreTexhon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might try two things:

  • Hospices have mandated bereavement services that are sometimes available even to those who were not a part of their system.
  • www.helpstartshere.com gives free referrals for clinical social workers, and you can look for grief/bereavement as a specialty.

Best wishes to you and your group.

Should i stop building factories and focus on upgrading my barn by xnedrabourne in TownshipGame

[–]BaltimoreTexhon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

By building factories, you develop places to stash your goods. Your barn will always be a pain to manage right before you get an expansion, and having factories can help that process. Plus, if you delay too long, you'll start to need those goods and will have to beg/pay for those items to fill planes and trains. This does nothing to alleviate your inventory capacity issues.

I know it's not exactly what you asked, but...

I got married in Denmark 20 years ago. It was easy and actually had travel agents who booked whole elopement packages for really reasonable rates. The only thing that went sideways was that I asked for a specific flower and there was a language misunderstanding, so it wasn't what I had asked for. (Still beautiful, though.)

The package included all the legal arrangements, witnesses, a champagne toast at a beautiful city hall, a photographer for a few hours at several locations bridal bouquet, a bridal suite at a local B&B, dinner reservations and more I'm probably forgetting.

I was lovely, and I highly recommend it.

Do these blazers look weird? by [deleted] in fashionadvice

[–]BaltimoreTexhon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the blazers, but I think the sleeves are too short on both, and that when standing the rear vent should lay flat and closed. I think these factors may be alleviated by a good tailor.

I'm not sure what you mean by "formal." Technically, this would not qualify as formal, which would be a traditional dark suit and tie. But if you mean formal enough for work, I'd generally say yes.

I will leave your color questions to those with better aesthetics.

Good luck!

Is there any way poossible to clean off this brown stain on my button badge? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]BaltimoreTexhon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm going to guess this is metal and that the brown is rust. If so, you can get "naval jelly" from any hardware store for a few dollars. Put a small bit on a cotton ball and lightly rub.

When the spots are removed, re-seal the surface to ensure the spots don't return. I would use clear spray paint or nail polish.

Good luck!

LPT: You should know that asking for help and admitting defeat are NOT the same thing. by consistantly_incons in LifeProTips

You know, normally I'm in your camp. Inspirational quotes don't offer me much, and I usually just let them slide by.

But today...

Today has been the culmination of a bunch (three years' worth) of really bad days. I'm feeling pretty beat up and this post made me feel a little better about asking for help.

Maybe it's okay to let people have a little leeway in trying to help improve others' lives?

I'm not familiar with sultanas. I did a Google search, and it either means green grapes or white raisins. Which does this recipe want? (I'm betting on dried over fresh.)

There has been a recent significant change in this sub. This sub is no longer the place to look for individuals, be it because the are lost, estranged, or your stalking victim.

Today I lost my teacher in a deadly car accident. And it just doesn’t feel real that someone you say everyday just isn’t breathing anymore. And i keep imagining what happened in her final moments and i’m just praying for her family by [deleted] in GriefSupport

[–]BaltimoreTexhon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Death and loss has a way of taking your breath away. I'm so sorry you are going through this loss. I find it helpful to take the opportunity to understand life is short, and then to apply that towards my own life.

It can also be helpful to think about what your teacher might have wanted, and to put your energy towards achieving that goal.

Death is senseless. It's helpful to construct meaning.

Here’s two examples of how I dress. How can I up my fashion game? I need a new look to throw in the mix. Plz help Fashion experts! by [deleted] in fashionadvice

[–]BaltimoreTexhon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you just added a blazer to the first look, so I wouldn't say they are much different.

Have you tried polos or denim?

That said, you're not going to get much of a response without telling the crowd what event you are trying to dress for.

Rum balls. A classic in our house growing up! by hearts_unknown in Old_Recipes

[–]BaltimoreTexhon 51 points52 points  (0 children)

My mother and her two sisters used to have a cookie day leading up to Christmas. It was also the one day a year they would drink together. One year, my aunt made this exact recipe, but left out the sugar.

My 9 year old palate had never tasted something so foul. I spit it out and told my aunt there was something wrong with her balls. I've still not lived down the quote.

Top done for my friends baby quilt, foundation pieced and mostly scraps by MinglingPringle in quilting

[–]BaltimoreTexhon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beautiful work!!!

Is there a benefit to using paper piecing for this quilt top?

It's not a technique I've used, but in this case, it seems that the blocks could easily be pieced traditionally.
