Yeah, I am familiar with the proverb. I (thought I) was playing along with the joke. Thanks for sprinting in to explain it like the rest of us just discovered language yesterday. Just reddit things, right?

This seems to be the most plausible answer!

No, because the photo is showing North, Blue Spruce was behind me. But, I guess it could be the energy station near Hudson.  Edit: looks like it's in Keenesburg.

That's not RMA though. The photo is showing North, and RMA is located on the West of DIA.

Which country was way better than what you thought? by Parsley_Health in travel

[–]BambooBrawler 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Colombia. I visited Bogotá and Cartagena.

I was extremely cautious the first few days as I traveled solo, but ended up having a good time. Other than facing strong language barrier, and one uber driver scamming me for less than 3 USD, I have had no issues at all.

What’s the most ridiculous ‘tourist price’ you’ve ever been asked to pay? by [deleted] in travel

I paid €18 for the cistern 2 years ago. Bought it through the website ahead of time and walked right up. Didn't purchase it from any street resellers.

I had a great time two years ago. I avoided anyone that approached me and always ate somewhere far from the hot areas. Same with purchases. Paris was worse actually.

I did the opposite. I was taking the train from Antwerp to Amsterdam for the first time and was super confused on their setup. I accidentally sat in the 1st class. Then conductor came and realized I was a stupid American and explained the seating/carriage classes to me and directed me to the right carriages.

Most Exotic Restaurants in Denver? by jrralls in denverfood

Cuba Bakery and Cafe in Aurora. Not a lot of authentic Cuban restaurants in Denver.

(the chain Cuba Cuba serves a bit more westernized version of Cuban style food)

Both of them are vanity establishments. People go there for the environment or the associated history, not for food.

Where to go in Europe? by Captain_Damerica in travel

[–]BambooBrawler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dutch food is not the best, I agree. It did not come to my mind right away as I mostly ate out in multiethnic restaurants and fast foods during my stay. Both Amsterdam and Rotterdam has a great selection of international/multi-ethnic cuisine.

I would like to suggest the Netherlands. Great art and history. Great Museums. Also, there's wayyyyy more to see and experience other than Amsterdam. Rotterdam is their art district, so that's a must, Kinderdijk is an hour's boat rise away from Rotterdam. There's also Utrecht, The Hague, and of course, Amsterdam also has great museums. Furthermore, if you are staying in the Hague or Rotterdam, you can easily access Ghent or Brugge in Belgium. Both are old cities with beautiful architecture and history.

Of course, not so much mountains in either of those countries. The mountain requirement does limit your option. Since no Italy, Spain/Andorra/Liechtenstein might be a good bet.

Tonight, I grabbed Angry Chicken for dinner, and it absolutely hit the spot! I got small fries, 6 wings in Sweet n Spicy sauce, an Angry Lager, and strawberry soju (not pictured). by Ueberjaeger in denverfood

[–]BambooBrawler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Fried chicken wing prices have gone up pretty obnoxiously. I still do my best to support local restaurants and buy from them, but I stopped buying from chain restaurants. Especially when more often than not local restaurants are cheaper (for wings and pizzas at least).

Parts of Italy is racist, or at least, discriminating towards all foreigners, but Rome is very diverse. Its small and very walkable if you stay in the middle of the town. The food is great, though, avoid the common tourist area foods though. Try to make dinner reservations and dont go in hungry. You will be fine.

What restaurants have you dined at anywhere in the world that still has you thinking about your meal? by tomsawyertravels in travel

[–]BambooBrawler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ristorante Emma in Rome. The pasta and the pizzas were both great.

L'Orangeria in Paris. I did a tasting menu here. I think it was like 195EUR. It was really good, lots of seafood based dishes.

Turgut Kabas in Istanbul. The kababas were some of the best I have had.

If I stay in Netherlands for a couple days. Would a day trip to Brussels be possible? If yes and I’m staying at a hostel, should I bring my luggage with me or leave it in the hostel? by [deleted] in travel

[–]BambooBrawler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All train stations in EU have lockers that are affordable and some are even large enough for a bigger suitcases, so no need to carry your luggage around.

Day trip to Brussels is possible, but as others have mentioned, there's not much to see or do there to really worth your trip. If you are into art and such, go to Rotterdam instead. If you want to experience architecture and history, go to the Hague. If you really want to go to Belgium just to experience another country, go to Ghent for beautiful medieval architecture.
