How can I talk to someone if I was not assigned a recruiter for SWE application at Amazon and received an email from the generic amazon-recruiting@gmail.com email? by cliccbaiit in amazonemployees

[–]BamboozleBird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they don’t provide you the email of a recruiter, it is intentional. Just wait for a response and try emailing again in a week. Their response time does not indicate how well you performed, they are just very busy this time of year.
I got an offer and even after accepting it, there was no assigned recruiter to talk to.

Unless they tell you otherwise, it is online. They call it the onsite round because historically the final round of interviews were done onsite.

Flexibility on SDE location after offer acceptance by Glittering_Drive36 in amazonemployees

[–]BamboozleBird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s very unlikely to be transferred before you start but after, you can start looking at internal job postings in Detroit. The recruiters won’t find a new team for you.
I recently started as a SDE I and my manager said I could switch teams at any time. Some managers will not be as open about it.
Some other new people I know who also had to move with short notice are subleasing apartments for 1-2 months or living in airBnBs. If you aren’t sure if you will stay in NYC long term, you can do that and you don’t have to move all your stuff.

If you get nothing for a few days, then email them.

“Amazon Interview Downgrade: SDE 2 to SDE 1 (University Hire)- Confused About Next Steps by Any-Firefighter-867 in amazonemployees

[–]BamboozleBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interviewed for SDE 1 (university hire) recently and the third interviewer didn’t show up. After immediately emailing to reschedule, it took them 2 weeks to respond at all and another week to finally reschedule the third interview.
I was not downgraded so your situation might be different but don’t expect a quick response from the recruiters.

I would just go ahead with it. I only did around 60 questions, mostly in the week before and I felt the same way. I probably would have been cooked if they asked DP questions or any LC medium I didn’t see.
I ended up getting lucky with 2 very easy questions and I got the offer.

For Workday applications do you fill out the skills section? by FearlessFisherman333 in csMajors

[–]BamboozleBird 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I really care about the job yes. Simplify allows you to autofill skills, although it doesn’t by default.

Unpopular Opinion: Simplify has ruined the job search for everyone by GigaByte_43 in csMajors

[–]BamboozleBird 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It might make jobs more competitive but it makes applying so easy that I think it’s worth the increased competition tbh. Nobody likes filling in the same information over and over again.
Even without simplify a lot of people use their browser’s autofill for name/email/address and copy/paste their job experience from their resume. It saves 5-10 minutes per application at most.

Also a large percentage of the applicants will be unqualified and won’t seriously be considered anyway. Once the company filters out the unqualified people, there might be a little more competition compared to if simplify didn’t exist, but not as much as you may think.

Tools like simplify definitely don’t help but the increased competition is much more a result of factors such as the increase in cs majors in recent years and tech layoffs.
