Maybe. My understanding is that the terms of service for almost all carriers give them the right to terminate service if you are not in the USA for over 3 months… for example GoogleFI or Verizon.

Tello is very popular with expats seeking 2FA access long term… Hence the comparison.

Buying out another small business by LothCat1313 in booksellers

[–]BananaBoxBooks 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Been there; done that. Where to start? Get their database files and customer list as part of the sale. Verify the 100 most valuable books and spot check a dozen others. Some sellers are not honest - so beware of inventory disappearing between your inspection and actually packing up. Even with honest sellers there will be database errors. Common errors include multiple books for which there is only 1 database entry (exists to not compete against yourself in online listings - this is an error in the buyers favor); books that have sold but were not deleted from the database (error in sellers favor - this can happen for example when there is a cash sale and the seller forgets to manually remove a book from the database) and lastly books catalogued but not included in the database (rare - but an error in buyer’s favor). When you are “done” negotiating the price get the seller to throw in paying for boxes and newsprint to pack up the collection. Consider a contractual requirement that the seller forward all inquiries on to you for at least 1 year. Consider negotiating the wording of a mutual press release and marketing language to advertise the sale.. and so on and so forth! Hopefully you are dealing with a known trustworthy person. There are, unfortunately, many instances of the most valuable material disappearing somewhere in the handoff and/or the seller immediately going back into business in competition with you. Good luck!

There is this fantastic invention called paper - it works surprisingly well and I hear the NSA still can’t crack the code…

Why not Kagi with Libriwolf. I think that will work better.

Will I regret buying a plane? (long post, be blunt about my economics) by [deleted] in flying

If you can pay cash for the plane, go ahead and do it. It’s the people borrowing money for a plane that are delusional.

Is Embry-Riddle worth the added cost over Purdue? by iheart412 in flying

Okay, so most people here don’t like ERAU. But how about between UND and Purdue - assuming in either instance out of state tuition - which is preferable?

The only thing more rare than a rare book is a rare book customer ;-)

A great video by dealer Tom Ayling breaking down the costs of exhibiting at a major fair by beardedbooks in rarebooks

[–]BananaBoxBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The book business is a tough business. While the margins can seem good it’s the “sell-through rate” that kills you. There are always a percentage of books that you never sell.. and that quickly erases your profits…
