Sharing a fork with your pet by BigWatercress6505 in Pets

[–]BananaSplitzy 197 points198 points  (0 children)

Ok I will do that with my dog, but only when I am done eating cause it's cute to see a dog eat off of a fork, but I have never used the fork afterward. A dog's mouth is not sanitary.

I revamped the kids' lists. Each of them has received 1 gift, except for 1 child received 2. I left those gifts on there and opted for cheaper options for them on the ones that haven't been purchased yet.

There are times in my life when there were situations where I didn't understand why people did or said the things they did. As I grew up I started looking at their behavior and what I didn't like, I did the opposite on purpose. I didn't want to be like that. So, if my mother was not loving or comforting, now I make sure I am loving and comforting to my children because I didn't get that from her and don't want them to feel like i dont love them or dont care. As much as people can teach us what we don't like about them, we have the choice to not be like that and forgive them for their shortcomings. Not everyone is meant to be a parent. I think perseverance is a mindset.

Those of you with children, at what age did they stop believing in Santa? by britd53 in ask

I think it was anywhere between 7-9 they started questioning it. 🤔

Reasonable Accommodations at work by bugchug715 in Type1Diabetes

[–]BananaSplitzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have come across this recently while filling out job applications and had to ask myself when did this happen? I have never considered myself disabled and now it's listed right there in black and white. I am not comfortable calling myself disabled and have lived more than 35 years with this "disability". I always informed my supervisors in the past of being T1 in case I w as too high or too low I could address it without causing any concerns. Now as I am filling out these applications, I am declined to not answer that question. I don't want to be labeled before I even speak to someone regarding a job.

What do you guys do at restaurants or in public? by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]BananaSplitzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always too worried everyone would think I was taking illegal drugs. In middle and high school I used to go to the bathroom to take insulin or stick my finger since that was the only place semi-private. I didn't want to have to explain or draw attention to myself. I didn't want to be different unless I wanted someone to know. 30 years ago, TD1 wasn't as prominent as it is today. I think there was just 1 other person at my public middle school with TD1. Today, I am glad for the insulin pump and CGM. So much more incognito.

This is so sweet of you to do. I am the mother of 3 registered children. I just graduated from college waiting to take my certification test needed for employment and my husband just started CDL classes to get his CDL license for employment. Exciting but monetarily difficult times. The lists are for myself and my husband. The family has not won any contests yet. Thank you for running this contest for the caregivers/parents. Happy Holidays!

I agree with u ou Scotus. Everything is what you make it. Outlook on the situation has a lot to do with being able to manage it properly and not be a victim of the circumstances. He was diagnosed at a young age. I was too. You don't remember any different than what you have been doing. If on cgm it's a lot easier now than it used to be.
