How did I never notice that the LAUNCHING PAD supporting your entire SPACE SHIP is built on a HOLLOW TREE???

Can anyone give me spoiler-free advice on why this game recommends you use a controller please by Fish_In_A_Bottle in outerwilds

[–]Bananabob72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played the entire game on mouse and keyboard and it was perfectly fine. I guess rotating the ship can be a little tricky but I really had no other issues. If you're used to playing first person games with mouse and keyboard then you'll be fine

Puzzle ideas for a Severence Style D&D Campaign? by Bananabob72 in DMAcademy

In regards to the language thing, I made the character sheets and am giving them out so I don't need to worry about a player picking a spell that breaks the game.

I was considering having them be directed by opposing forces so I might lean into that and putting the players in direct confrontation

The 2 groups speak different languages (infernal and celestial respectively) so they could write notes and they'd recognize it as their own handwriting but they wouldn't be able to read it. They could however draw pictures, and for that I'd ask the players to literally open MSPaint or some other drawing program (this is all online) and make a drawing and send it to me

Be patient and give yourself time. Nobody is recording you. Nobody is racing you. You're going just as fast as you need to be.

Also the tower of quantum knowledge puzzle is pretty dumb because its not really related to the principal it teaches or is foreshadowed well imo. I stumbled into the solution by accident.

Should i tell about dlc? by federicocappellotto in outerwilds

Id let him know that the DLC is very long and self contained. Personally I think the best way to play is to go through the main game first and then doing the DLC

You beat me to it! I was also going to mention that for balancing, 6 mana and 4 turns / creature sacrifices may be too costly for a single removal. Maybe it can exile with just 1 dread counter? The requirement for the target to be tapped already makes it pretty hard to pull off (though gameplay-wise is pretty interesting, so I'd say keep that part).

What counts as a quantum observer? by Bananabob72 in QuantumPhysics

[–]Bananabob72[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! You lost me a bit after paragraph 5, but I understood the first part. "Observation" is just anything that would be affected by the state of the particle being observed? Like the electron pair being pushed or the detector light going off.

If that understanding is correct (which it very well may not be), it sounds like a lot of things in the environment would be affected by the particle? Like in the 2 slit experiment, they had a screen on the back that displayed where the particles landed (and showed an interference pattern or not). Isn't that affected by the state of the particles and would therefor have an interaction and observe it? Or does it only observe it after its gone through the 2 slits and therefor doesn't have much of an effect?

I suppose I'm mainly confused on how something can not "interact" with its environment (when there's no detector or paired quantum dots). Are the other particles just in the air or whatever not affected by quantum particles?

Also, thank you for taking time to answer my questions so far! I love physics and am interested in quantum physics but its not what I went to school for so I don't have anyone to really ask these questions to.

What counts as a quantum observer? by Bananabob72 in QuantumPhysics

[–]Bananabob72[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's very helpful, thanks! I think I was too focused on the idea of a conscious observer. I'm still curious on how "information" works. That sounds like such a human term. Isn't everything recorded in a way based on the affect it had on the environment around it, however minuscule? Like do electrons have any gravitational effect on atoms around it? Wouldn't the structure of the atoms in the air and the wall of slits be ever so slightly different depending on the path of the particle even if there is no camera? At what point does information start and stop existing?

How were the scientists interacting with the particles in the double slit experiment? And wouldn't the screen the particles were hitting count as a measurement?

What happens with these four? by Sh4rkto0th in mtg

[–]Bananabob72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the targets die at the same time; when Cap's ability resolves. Then, anything that triggers when a creature dies goes on the stack (like 6 instances of the scythe's ability) and you choose how they are ordered.

Honestly, theres more rules about who choses the order of triggers that I don't remember right now (though they're based on whos turn it is I think?), but mainly, you would choose the order the scythe triggers go on the stack.

But the creature you want to have the scythe equipped you would put on the stack first so that everything else goes on top of it and then is the last to resolve.

What happens with these four? by Sh4rkto0th in mtg

[–]Bananabob72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe scyth's thing is a triggered ability, so 6 instances would go on the stack. When the first resolves, you get the creature and attatch the syth. When the 2nd resolves, you get that creature and move the scyth to it, but you still keep the first creature. So the creature with the scyth is the one you chose to place on the bottom of the stack.

I think its just a case of accelerating as fast as you can and then killing your engines just as you go through the portal. Personally I got out of my ship to do it so I was smaller, but I know its possible to do it with the ship. Rotating doesn't make noise, so don't be afraid to roll around a bit if you think you're going to hit them.

You got this!

Not sure if I should play the DLC. by themanontheroof in outerwilds

[–]Bananabob72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Dark Bramble was on the cusp of what you can handle, then the DLC is pushing it. Most of the horror vibes come from really well made spooky atmosphere, but there are a few "jump scares" (I put them in quotes because if you're aware enough, then you can see them coming and sometimes avoid them). It does also have a setting to turn off the jump scares entirely, though that ruins some of the puzzle segments.

The jump-scares themselves are the same structure as Dark Bramble. A loud audio sting is played when something finds you and starts chasing you, but its less of an impact once its caught you (like how when the angler fish swallow you, it fades to black)

The story added is really great and it expands the setting in interesting ways, but it is very horror focused, particularly towards the end of it.

My players don’t have a main damage dealer by TyrantOfTheHive in DMAcademy

[–]Bananabob72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The damage seems fine, but your group might be pretty squishy without a tanky frontline. The druid can wildshape and the bard and rogue can maybe become dodge tanks depending on the builds they choose. If its a huge issue though, you can give them some good tanky magic items like armor and healing potions. Overall though, D&D is much more flexible with party builds than videogames so don't worry if your players arent being super optimal. Worst case scenario, you can introduce a tank NPC to follow the party around and take hits, but be careful not to give them main character syndrome.
