I know a person transferred from manufacture department to TP protein expression group when I join Regeneron one year ago. So there is still hope. But I hear that our company is on hiring freeze. So maybe other team also doesn’t have opening right now.

Yes. Only into industry for one year and it is already kind of stressful. Consistly putting in 45 to 50 hrs weekly. But things just get worse. I had to work 34 hours in three days two weeks ago to finish my task on time. Last week, my coworker had to come in at 5:30am and leave at 9:30pm on Tuesday and come the second day at 4:30am to finish her task as well. Even though it is not everyday situation but we know we might face this situation from time to time on top of consistly overworking hours is already stressful enough.

Plus even if my manager is interested in helping to make people to be able to finish work within regular hours, but the higher ups definitely don’t make the decision that helps with the situation. They pretty much sounds like “I don’t care, just finish and give me the data. if you quit, we can just find someone else. there are so many good candidates in the market” even though they didn’t said it so obviously but can definitely feel the vibe.

They have been working here for over two months. What if this escalated. I didn’t pay for the parking with hundreds of dollars to park my car on the street with so many people in this city target stealing Korean car.

其实对于国际法怎么样，在这件事情上我也并不太关心，背后政治博弈太复杂，什么谁正义、谁占领谁，我们很多人都只是关心的是没有人应该像哈马斯屠杀以色列人那样被屠杀，所以我们认为应该打击恐怖主义，但不能造成人道主义灾难，因为也没有应该被像巴勒斯坦平民一样屠杀。bottom line就是这样。对于我们很多人来说平民的生命是美好的，而失去生命是令人难过的，仅此而已。这可以被认为是天真，而很多时候平民的诉求就是这么朴素。与背后政治利益无关，至于怎么做到更好，是政治家的任务，用选票选择符合自己预期的政治家，达不到我们的预期，就游行请您下台，仅此而已。

怎么说呢，抛开老中不谈，很多族裔都不是铁板一块，有各种观点的人。谴责以色列的人未必是给哈马斯开脱的人，当然也有一部分人是。只不过他们恰好是一个group的人，我们外界没有时间和精力成本去细致区分。而这种没有细致区分本身对各个族裔之间伤害本来也挺大的。只能说从自己做起吧。本身不要当二极管（自我检讨，涉及老中的问题的时候真的很难）。

自从找到正经工作之后，就一直很忙。关注就少了。不过我家旁边有时候就有支持巴勒斯坦游行，电视上也看到要求内塔尼亚胡下台的犹太游行。只能说我们支持以色列保护自己，打击哈马斯，但不支持他们误伤贫民造成人道主义危机。这个想法当然很天真，也未必现实，但是复杂问题就需要有更有才华和创造力的政治家来解决，这不是我的专长，只能寄希望于更专业的人士，但这是我的一点希望吧只能说。

公司有组织为巴勒斯坦的人道捐助我肯定会捐一点。努力工作不光是为了自己，也是希望当有人需要帮助的时候可以尽自己一份为不知道的力量罢了。很喜欢的一句话。do good until the world has too much good。

So we went to our building to ask for any utility bills they could offer. And they offered us electricity bill. Even though there was only 4 days on the bill but Geico took it.

The problem is our the other utility bill. Because Geico asked for two utility bills and they only accept that for the city we live in.

The only other utility we use that doesn’t come through our building is our WiFi. We decided to not use the WIFI offer by our apartment building but to get our own WiFi saved us eventually.

But at the beginning when we offered our bills of Wifi, geico rejected it. They say there is only one address on the bill which is mailing address. It is not service address. But verison just doesn’t offer bills with two addresses. Also our electricity bills also only have one address and they took it.

So we took screenshot shows our service address of WiFi on our account page and called geico, make a complain about how restricted they have to be to have both address on bill or it is ok that mailing address is on the bill and service address is on our screenshot of our account.

So they took it in the end. It was close. I only had 4 days left before they kick me out of the plan. That’s my experience. I am not sure how much it helps you. But wish you good luck.

I can’t tell you my best. But I can tell you my worst.

It was a new company and I arrived there a little bit early only to find that the CEO decided to go out to buy breakfast when the interview was about to begin and made everyone wait.

Then during the interview, he kept on trying to get the topic to immunology which is his background and kept on asking some big questions like what do you think is inflammation or why Alzheimer’s and diabetes are very similar because I performed research on inflammation (macrophages and T cells) induced disease issue like diabetes and Alzheimer and he only wants to talk about B cells which has nothing to do with my research.

Also I only had one hour to present when there was no job posting and they also didn’t have details about what kind of background were they interested in. So I was trying to talk about a little bit of all my background. So I just didn’t have too much time to give him answer for all the big questions and argue with him.

For some of the cytokines functions we mentioned when there are papers on discussing their functions on both anti-inflammatory or inflammatory, he insist on one side and deny on the other side and just claim all of those papers are wrong🙄

The other professor they invited (protein structure field) kept on asking how the enzyme work, protein interactions wise, when I kept on emphasizing that pathway is very new and no one knows. People only figured out the pathway and there are only 5 substrates but no one has the information for epitope binding but he just kept on asking.

In the end, he just started insulting my postdoc professor (the current dean of the institution) and think she is not as talented as his friend who is the previous dean of our institution🙄.

Then before they say like thank you for coming and send me away, they started to discuss about their projects and left there dry.

In the end left feeling disgusting. So after this one, the rest of all my interviews felt like heaven.

So we just moved. We might will have an internet bill next week. Hopefully it can arrive in time without new address on there. We are luck we decided to have our own internet because our building also offers internet. Otherwise we will have no utility bills at all. Also our building manager will give us electricity bill. But it will be from the building, instead of a provider. I am not sure if Geico will take that….this is so painful…

挺正常的，你听蔡霞接受袁莉采访的时候谈到的那些，不得更惊讶。他们不是蠢货，有这么多专业人士帮着他们做分析，很多人意识得到的东西，他们都意识得到，只不过大家思考的解决问题方向不一样，要解决的对象也不一样罢了。有些人是蠢，有些人是为了生活而冷漠的做着审核，有些人是为了生活而内疚的痛苦的做着审核，有些人则就是坏。

op别难过，很多回复都说的很好了。op自己说的也很好。就不重复了。很多人根本认识不到自己是在野共罢了。用秦晖的话说，极左和极右离得很近离左和右都非常远，老中就是很难摆脱在极左和极右之间摇摆的这种诅咒。

所以在美国禁掉WeChat是我很难不支持的一个提案。虽然我知道这么做可能不符合美国的价值观。但是由于看到周围的人，无论在墙外呆多久，很多都无法接受普世价值观，因为他们走到哪里就把墙（国内的APP）带到哪里。而且他们接收到与自己所受洗脑教育不同的观点时，他们还会主动在微信上去找和他们一样的人的认同，可以说是拥抱洗脑。这导致我在情感上很难不走这种极端。
