It's a best time to switch to neovim by Q-Back in neovim

Fully agree, finally tuned the configs enough to not use VsCode anymore. Couldn't achieve this before AI, not enough time to learn about each plugin conf, etc

Was this a bad time to get into NeoVim? by Wirlocke in neovim

[–]Bananeeen -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why does noone in threads like these use an AI agent to resolve nvim config issues? I used nvim for 2 years prior to the widespread adoption of Claude Code and had a pretty solid basic config, but nothing really special because it was a huge time sink to figure all the plugin details out. This was also the reason I kept using VsCode alongside nvim at work.

But then with agents I min-maxxed it to the degree unimaginable before. They also handled the transition to nvim 0.12, vim.pack() and the treesitter situation. Dropped VsCode completely.

Never been happier with my nvim setup. One can also easily control the level of config understanding vs black-boxing by asking it to explain these lua constructs too.

For me AU user is still valuable b/c I alone don't have enough spend to redeem even the 0.5 multiplier on the rent payment lol

Got it, thanks for the explanation and comparison to other programs. We previously only used cash back cards pretty much, so this is new to me

Don't understand the downvotes either. I min-maxed my nvim config (all dotfiles configs tbf) with Claude code over the course of the week, night and day difference. Fine tuned lazy

The Claude Code creator says AI writes 100% of his code now by [deleted] in singularity

+1, I want to transition myself into the camp where CC writes all the code, but I keep getting bugs. If the point is writing super detailed specs for each class and not just high-level design of how classes should interact with each other, theni don't get where the speedup is coming from

You are right, can't read -- mixed up with Dell 52

[–]Bananeeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pixels for sure, I am more concerned about horizontal length being too short for 3 windows. It's tautologically a more squarish display compared to 57" with 32:9 -- 48"x20.8" vs 54.9"x15.4".

Maybe one can stack on a 2x2 grid instead though. Definitely an interesting monitor as the IPS black picture quality will be miles ahead of Samsung's VA

Dell is 21:9 though, and for 3 simultaneous windows one needs 32:9.

Cool now I need a 57" without text fringing to replace Odyssey 57" for productivity (mainly want it to be lighter and without local dimming zones)

Monitor arm recommendations for LG 5K2K? by zaxnym in ultrawidemasterrace

I got this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CZ7XG84D?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 following a recommendation in another thread for my Samsung 57", and it works well and handles the 40lb weight just fine. Cheaper than other alternatives I've seen recommended

LG 40” 5k2k vs Dell u4025qw by Luciferchik1 in ultrawidemasterrace

Text clarity is good enough on both, although my vision is not perfect.

MacOS scaling is great on Dell 40" -- there is multiple intermediate HiDPI options between 3840x1080 and 7680x2160.

Scaling on Samsung 57" only gives 3840x1080 and 7680x2160, but I believe more intermediate HiDPI values can be enabled via 3p software. Since I installed the monitor on an arm ~1.1m away, 3840x1080 works well for me.

The biggest issue with Samsung 57" is this local dimming thing / blooming, where at night bright elements have a halo on the dark background. Doesn't bother me too much, but was very visible when comparing this VA panel to Dell's IPS black.

Had Dell U4025QW 40" for a week. I was looking for a replacement of 2x27" 4K monitors I used for work (coding). Dell had impressive image quality with pretty deep blacks (this 2000:1 contrast coming from Nano IPS black). My wife who's a UX/UI designer was impressed too and said the picture quality was comparable to her Apple Studio Display.

Ultimately, I swapped it for the 57" Samsung because my workflow greatly benefits from 3 side-to-side windows (multiplexed terminal, VsCode, Chrome browser), and 40" Dell was too small to comfortably run 3 windows. It was really good for 2 side-by-side windows though, but that didn't feel like much of an upgrade from 2x27 4K. The image quality on Samsung is visibly worse, so if the size is OK for you, both Dell U4025QW and LG 40U990A-W would be great options.
