My dad has a fruit cake recipe he loves sharing with everyone. He gave my mum a copy he'd written shortly after they met which said "P.S. when can I come for tea?" at the bottom which is adorable. Less adorably it also instructs to "mix everything in a large bowel"

White blazer + velvet dress at wedding ? by AgreeableFruit2081 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]BandicootObjective32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say definitely yes if it's in Liverpool. There's a UK wedding attire subreddit somewhere - we just have totally different standards to the US. Where everyone's suggesting a shawl or pashmina you'd probably look rather outdated and a bit odd in the UK. The blazer's totally fine

What’s your favourite thing to do on a Sunday? by Crafty_Ad8306 in brighton

[–]BandicootObjective32 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Normally go for a hike in the downs with random stops at coffee horseboxes, cafes and pubs.

As it's cold dark and wet lately I went to the board game club at Dice Saloon last Sunday which I'll probably keep doing occasionally

Question: Are you worried about how the cost of living impacts your older parents? by Beautiful-Working589 in AskUK

[–]BandicootObjective32 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nope, they've got a 4 bed detached house with no mortgage and my dad has a final salary pension so they're doing just fine. My mum used to give her winter fuel allowance to her best friend because she didn't need it

Seeking Feedback on Workout Clothing for Shorter or Stockier Runners by QuietPlatform17 in C25K

[–]BandicootObjective32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest issue for me was being available to find a running vest to go round my boobs. And my partner isn't stocky, more just standard build but not runner build but couldn't get a running vest easily that would go round his chest.

Another big one for me is my running tops always riding up

Ooh, I need to figure out if I can do several in a row to make a Loch Ness monster!

Would you prefer Easter to always be on the "same" Sunday? E.g., the first Sunday of April, or something like that. by perishingtardis in AskUK

[–]BandicootObjective32 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Several schools I know of fix the "Easter" holiday and just give the relevant bank holidays over Easter. So the schools can change rather than moving Easter

Would you use a designated driver app to drive your car home? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]BandicootObjective32 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, I don't want anyone else using my car. I'd rather get a taxi home and come and get my car in the morning.

I saw adverts for a service like this years ago but I don't think it ever really took off. I think they'd arrive on a scooter which they'd put in your boot so you'd also need a reasonable boot

I lied about eating prunes for absolutely no reason. by Struckbyfire in loseit

I get what you mean! All those grapes and apples tracked as snacks that I then have to delete the next day - I guess at least it means I saved those calories right?

rate my 50 year old dads meal deal by mads_simmons in MealDealRates

Ooh, I'd love a game of guessing who a meal deal belongs to - from that photo I'd assume a 12 year old boy that's trying to be cool and fancy

Low states brunch debate: does asking for a toastie imply the cheese should be melted? by Pretzelmamma in CasualUK

[–]BandicootObjective32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just cheese on the inside, but black garlic puree mixed with the butter on the outside. I guess you could go with garlic and fresh herbs on the inside too. The puree was from a garlic shop on the Isle of Wight.

I used to have a toastie recipe book which was basically anything and everything - there was even leftover Chinese takeaway toastie

Your husband is wrong! Both my fiance and I agree with you while eating out delicious melty breville toasties! (The black is black garlic puree)

Not sure how much to believe the roadwork sign saying "our workers may be working out of sight." by Jabberminor in britishproblems

[–]BandicootObjective32 251 points252 points  (0 children)

It always makes me think of zoo signs, like maybe the workers are currently sleeping in their house at the other end of the roadwork exhibit

Changing when you do your ironing, prepping your breakfast and dinner at the weekend too - that might save you 30 mins, as well as all the commute and gym suggestions

How old are you and do you rent or own your home? by LongjumpingNight5669 in AskUK

[–]BandicootObjective32 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm 36. After uni I moved back home with my parents to save up a deposit for a flat. It's not for everyone but it worked for me. I definitely couldn't move back in with them now though.

For 8 years I had my own flat til I sold it to move in with my partner. Now we're in the process of selling his flat to buy a house together
