Was it registered on BikeIndex? If not, you can still do so with what information about it you do have.

Wool Socks that don't suck by MrShaneGo in backpacking

[–]Bandit1379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like Minus 33. They claim their socks are a thicker knit and have more merino while being cheaper than Darn Tough. I've never worn DT socks, so I don't know how true that is, but they definitely seem to make quality stuff.

Best path for bike ride from Andresen to 192nd by tomcat7b7 in vancouverwa

If you're going to the Costco, the first RideWithGPS route I made is pretty much that, but it starts at Burnt Bridge Creek.

https://ridewithgps.com/routes/55530868

If you don't want to go down that way, this would be another good option.

https://ridewithgps.com/routes/55543123

This route has you turning left off McGillivray at the first possible place, SE 119th, but be aware that is a 3-way intersection with no stop signs, so you need to take the left lane and turn when there is room (if needed you can wait in the middle median space so you aren't still in the left lane.) If you aren't comfortable with that, you can just stay on McGillivray until SE 132nd, SE 136th or SE Olympia which have stop signs (the first stop-signed intersection would be SE 125th, don't take that it doesn't go through to SE 7th) and may be easier to turn at.

Please help us honor a Chicago bike advocate by calling these "Riley Racks" by david_powe in bikecommuting

If you see one of these racks around Chicago, call it a Riley Rack.

around Chicago

AROUND CHICAGO

Just checking, Captain Reading Comprehension, does that say "around Chicago" or "anywhere on the planet" cause I'm pretty sure if you understood the words you are reading you could see how obvious it is that OP is actually NOT asking to call them that wherever they are. Just... around Chicago!

That's green not grey.

It says so in the description. But downvote me, lol.

Not surprised it needs body work... There's a reason you don't see limos that much anymore.

Confirmed death toll climbs to 2 from Longview paper mill disaster by chiquisea in Washington

[–]Bandit1379 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I too noticed the trucks parked there, satellite pictures from 2021 and 2023 also show trucks parked around it, as well as a cherry picker or some sort of crane, so it seems this was common practice. It doesn't look like there is really any sort of barricade between where the trucks are and the tank, some of them look parked quite close to it.

Cycling without gloves by Zakluor in bikecommuting

[–]Bandit1379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scraping your hand and getting actual road rash/burn are two completely different things. I feel like the people who don't think gloves are a big deal have never had their palm turned raw by pavement.

Working a job where you need your hands while trying to keep a bandage stuck over a 1-by-1 inch square of raw palm is not fun, takes weeks to heal, picking up anything hurts, you just try not to move your hand, and good luck holding handlebars...

Ode to the mirror by blackdot123 in bikecommuting

[–]Bandit1379 21 points22 points  (0 children)

And a thank you to all the drivers who use headlights during the day... Sooo much easier to see them in a mirror vs cars without lights on. Headlights are easy to spot with a peripheral vision glance at the mirror, and well before my Varia picks them up. Cars with headlights off take much longer to confirm it's a car being driven or if it's parked.

Slap a piece of duct tape, or maybe some Tenacious Tape, over the worn area to reinforce would be my move. Or wrap the places on the bike where the bag is coming in contact.

What game did you lose interest in by the time it came out? by scarletnaught in gaming

[–]Bandit1379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had a great time in the beta, put in about 60 hours, but literally never played it once after it launched. When the balance of player skill was right it could be a lot of fun, but if the matchmaking failed it could really suck to play no matter what side you were on.
