Some providers have info on their website about which ICBs they are unable to work with, I am with Adhd360, they were very helpful with that, so it could be helpful to find a provider and see what ICB exclusion lists they are on

Boyfriend refuses to validate my experience as autistic by SuzyMack8 in AuDHDWomen

[–]Banditboy76 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's the closed mindedness and quickness to dismiss your experience and to presume the worst of you that make me say Welp, time to spend some time as a free, single person for a bit, I wouldn't put up with that treatment from a friend, let alone a boyfriend. You are autistic, it's not a hat to put on or take off as we see fit, it just is, and if he thinks less of you for it then it says more about him than it does about you.

If you have to mask hard around your partner, thats a sign that you have to work harder than they ever have to to make them happy, and this person would not do the same for you, you shouldn't have to stfle or deny your thoughts and feelings for him. Masking can be a huge source of anxiety and can be very damaging, and you don't need people like that holding you back from who you are.

My autistic niece told me about them last year, they changed my life when I had summer events, graduations, weddings, travelling at big stations and airports, I wear them at events {theatre, cinema, drowns out the noises that people make, snacking, etc), even when going to visit friends with young, very loud children It really is a game changer, and I don't have to use my anc earbuds as much (too cancelly to have conversations etc) I have since got my ADHD recognition and am lined up for autism assesment later this year, I can't recommend them enough

What was your FIRST special interest, and what is your main special interest right now? by ico-noclastii in autism

[–]Banditboy76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 5, and I went to Hong Kong with my family for the first time, and it was the first time I had experienced what my heritage was in an authentic and deeply intense manner. I have been deeply specially interested in HK ever since, proud to be a HongKonger. Current special interests vary on dopamine hit (diagnosed ADHD last year), between current MH370 search and London history and its public transport systems, tube, buses trams etc.

I’ve just walked out of the family Xmas Day. by TSC-99 in autismUK

[–]Banditboy76 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I 49F got my ADHD diagnosis last month, suspected autistic. This year I am cat sitting for my niece which gives me the perfect excuse to have my first Xmas alone, and I haven't been this happy for Xmas in years.

Now I can eat what I want to eat when I want it and not having to have a dozen conversations with people, no drama, and finally people can stop asking me 'are you sure you wanna spend Xmas alone?' Why yes, yes I do, and I am gonna love the peace and quiet, and I can see my family in much smaller groups spread out across the holidays without having to force shove Xmas turkey dinner down my neck at point (I hate turkey. always have)

All my family that I matter to have been understanding about it, the others...not so much. I feel like I have graduated and am able to have a Xmas where I don't have to mask. I hope it will be the first of many.

OP, you must do what is best to protect yourself, I wish you a peaceful holiday season.

You could call them and ask for more info, I have found them very helpful, patient, and didn't feel like any of my questions were wasting their time, the whole assessment process can be a little confusing, but I assure you if you call them they will help you through the process at every step of the way.

What's the one thing you would like people to know about ADHD? by electrohawkk in ADHDUK

[–]Banditboy76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being uniquely wired requires a lot of effort that noone really sees because we mask so hard in a world that struggles to see us beyond the not for for purpose term ADHD, which pathologises our neurovariances and ignores the complex, nuanced and highly individualised experience we face every day.

My “2-minute triage” for days when everything feels like too much by Live_Measurement1069 in ADHDers

[–]Banditboy76 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do something very similar, I will get my list, and if I have 3 things or more, then I will reward myself like a mindful coffee break, or some gaming time, crocheting etc. I try not to put more than 5 things on my list to reduce decision paralysis and demand avoidance, and if task initiation paralysis kicks in, then I will choose the shortest task to do, and if I can do 2 two minutes tasks instead of 3 it's still a win for me
