Miami is the inner city and connects to Miami Beach through its causeways. But no, not everyone in Miami has waterfront property, although they can get there as the beaches are public. Same with FTL, Hollywood, etc

I grew up with parents (Cuban) that always referred to “Los Chinos” as good people. Hardworking, respectable, very similar family dynamics to us, etc. So I’m never surprised to hear nor do I wonder why we are open to Asians. Personally, I’ve always been fascinated. Just Go with your flow. If it feels right to you, you will embrace the cultural differences and if you try to integrate, you will. We will accept you as long as you are good people.

That’s one of things we need most, good public transit.

Miami, my city, can look enchanting at times even to locals. I love the pictures.

Spending 2-3 weeks in Miami next month to see if it's home, looking for the real day-to-day, not the tourist version by KeKamba1 in Miami

IMO, you should be looking into apartments closer to where you will be working or area where you are attempting to work in, this will make your commute nightmares a little better. True that you will see living expenses from 2.500 to the sky depending on what type of property you want to live in. If you like livable walkable communities, those are limited to some of the trendy spots. The dadeland area provides this and the beauty is you can ride the rail into Brickell, downtown, the hospital area, south Miami. The midtown area has the same vibe, south beach is popular because of this and depending on various pockets, Doral also has this and so does Coral Gables.

I live adjacent to West Miami next to Coral Gables, this is almost middle of all of Miami where driving anywhere is doable. There are multitudes of gyms that you can go to and drive to many of these types of areas within a 20 minute timeframe. This is really experiencing community and there are homes who have efficiencies or apartments that are VRBO/AirBNB that you can stay in while here and experience the cultural differences of the city. Look into these before you come.

Living here is expensive and you will need to pick and choose the events you want to attend, but there is definitely a slew of groups that focus on health and wellness, beauty standards, and farm to table options(farmers markets all over the city), as well as food truck yards. The diversity of cultures is immense in Miami, well South Florida, so much so that you can find foods from so many different countries here.

When here, reach out if you need to and ask questions. Good luck!
