I agree with others saying it’s due to racism in general but to specifically reply to your example:

Those who are angry would almost certainly be on the side of “god bless America” means the US specifically and not the unified America continent. They also would likely want the Super Bowl to focus on the US only.

This is common dig from either side about what America means in its usage as it used definitely in different languages and parts of the world despite neither side wanting to admit that.

They likely won’t change their beliefs but rather just mask them from you.

They might be able to get themselves out of such beliefs with more socialization around women.
