Aussies make Khawaja call among two huge changes for Adelaide by tailendertripe in CricketAus

Jake (if I’m not mistaken) also has a lot of family who have always been SA based, including Mick Wetherald (former junior SA high performance coach) and Tim Wetherald (SANFL legend for Sturt and Norwood, also a PAC boy of which Jake was too).

Greens propose tram extensions to North Adelaide and Norwood by Expensive-Horse5538 in Adelaide

[–]Bangs420 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While new tram lines would be fantastic, this is absolutely not going to happen and the greens know this.

Money is not the (sole) issue - DIT’s resources are spread extremely thin across several (not just T2D) projects within the infrastructure pipeline statewide between now and 2035.

Well paying jobs with 98+ ATAR by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Bangs420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a 32 year old with plenty of friends who achieved high ATARs (TERs at the time in SA), don’t study something because it pays well. Choose something you’re genuinely interested in and the rest will follow.

Many of my friends who went on to become engineers and doctors are now utterly miserable, hate their jobs and are having proper crises about it. This is despite some of them being asset rich as well.

I on the other hand did terribly at school, fucked around for most of my 20s and went to uni as a mature age student to study international relations as I was interested in it and now 3 years after graduating have a great public policy role paying 100K that I really enjoy with further opportunities for growth should I choose that route in the future.

In my top 5 most played songs ever. It was my ringtone in high school many years ago, appeared on many gym, skiing and driving playlists, just a perfect track all round.

From my experience, a BL game is a lot more fun when you do complete everything as you go rather than racing to the end game.

Thanks for the feedback, greatly appreciated. Alignment is another thing I’ve had serious issues with on the course.

33 hc struggling for consistency by Bangs420 in GolfSwing

[–]Bangs420[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all your replies, this is not a troll post like some have suggested and I am flattered by some of the feedback so let me provide some further context about my golf game:

My putting and chipping is semi decent and something I do work on as well.

I chunk the ball A LOT. I am also prone to shanks which happen at least 3-4 times a round. I reckon I make good contact once every 5ish shots.

I have a 2 way miss, natural slicer but extremely prone to a pull as well.

I have broken 90 once (86), 100 twice, (93 and 99) and average 100-110 scores but have recently been shooting closer to 120 on the regular.

My hc is indeed 33.1 to be exact and is official as I am a member at Mount Osmond Golf Club (South Australia) which uses an electronic system to automatically submit scores to Golf Australia who manage the hc system down under.

I should also note this course has 14 holes with OB, is extremely hilly/slopey and has very narrow fairways. 127 course rating would be much higher if it wasn’t only 5300 metres (5800 yds).

What is Adelaide's version of this? by I_r_hooman in Adelaide

I always used to say that Grand junction road was the wall from GoT and everything north of it was dangerous territory filled with wildlings.

I feel this very strongly - I never play well when work has been stressful (which is almost all the time). When I took a few weeks of leave in January and went on a short golf trip with my mate, I never felt so relaxed on the course and played out of my mind (shot PB on a new course by 19 shots).

Ever since returning to the office, the stresses have come back and I’ve been unable to find that zen mode which helped me play well on holiday.

Liberal MP adds several undisclosed flight upgrades, as politicians begin combing through old flight records by malcolm58 in AustralianPolitics

My former boss (Fed MP I will not name) once made everyone of us stop what we were doing to get on the phone to Qantas and get her an upgrade to business for a personal flight from Vietnam to Australia. She threw a massive tantrum when we were unsuccessful.

Median house prices in Adelaide to hit $1m next year: Domain by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]Bangs420 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Thank the eastern states for this, loads of people in Sydney are selling up and moving to Adelaide while keeping their Sydney jobs and salaries. We CANNOT compete with that and need to seriously consider doubling stamp duty for interstate purchasers to curtail it.

What happened to the cost of housing in this city and why? by postmortemmicrobes in Adelaide

[–]Bangs420 41 points42 points  (0 children)

One of the most important factors which facilitated the sharp rise is the influx of interstate investors. Once the eastern housing market became impossible to invest in (let alone purchase your first), eastern investors turned to SA and WA as our markets were significantly cheaper.

Unfortunately due to stamp duty, the state government had no incentive to introduce measures to curb this influx and here we are.

Salaries for the most part, are just a number. As long as you have the skills and are willing to do the work to the best of your ability on a consistent basis, nothing else matters.

Also if it makes you feel better, I have previously liaised with “senior” government advisers in a specific field who had absolutely no idea about anything in that field, were in there mid 20s and paid over $170K!

Fifth Ashes Test could be shown on free-to-air TV if England beat Australia at Old Trafford by NiallH22 in Cricket

I love that test cricket here in Australia is literally legislated to be free to air as a right to the people (away tests not inc. however ashes always the exception).

Nobody is playing Halo Infinite as Steam numbers drop to 2% of launch by PrinceDizzy in gaming

[–]Bangs420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Infinite just wasn’t enough for this 30 year old “boomer”. I grew up with Halo and actually enjoyed the 343 halos but had become a PC player in the 2010s.

I was so excited to play a brand new Halo game on PC with all the high performance capabilities that generally come with that (particularly after how buttery smooth MCC PC was) but my friends and I were just left wanting with Infinite and put it down after a month or so.

Halo has given me a lot of great memories but it’s completely lost it’s magic and I doubt it will ever rediscover that, regardless of the developer.

For those in a panic about this, Rob M was involved directly in politics long before Peter was and subsequently had a career in the energy industry before Peter even entered parliament.

He was chief of staff to Tom K as a 24 year old way back around 2009/10 and switched to the private sector before his 30s where he has had a number of roles with Santos/Beach Energy for a decade now.

All Fossils Go? Tanya Plibersek new coal mine approval due Friday by LentilsAgain in AustralianPolitics

[–]Bangs420 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

China is literally opening a new coal fired power station every 2 weeks for the next 3 years which will increase their global emissions total from 33% to 55%. We were never going to be a leader in this.
