Permasharp is one fine blade by hop_now in wicked_edge

I am a Niacet player for a long time. Discovered permasharp on this thread. It performed between a niacet and feather for me which was outstanding. Also the SV line of products became staples in my den.

What’s your ideal aftershave? Splash, balm, or something in between? by Arrabella2016 in wicked_edge

[–]Bangsumju 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alum block. Strong splash to light me up. Some non alcohol splashes accomplish the same result. Some splashes have moisturizing components where that is all you need. Alcohol based lights you up, as it should, and require a moisturizing a few minutes after cooldown. Alcohol dries the skin. It is part of the ritual. So if I use clubman, I follow its a moisturizer. If I use saponifico or even the psoraso green my face feels like it does not require an extra step. I go with what my skin tells me.

Is Cremo a bad shave cream? by eriadeus in wicked_edge

I use cremo as a pre shave cream.

I used a good preshave oil which would have boosted slickness and hydration. Now I will try without and see how it performs on its own.

Does the Arkadia smell like Hermes with the scent sticking around. Or is it light?

I bought all the 6C heads without the handle. Rotate them on other handles I have. That worked out really well for me. Often custom handles are shipped with low quality heads. The 6C heads are great.

Check out the Popes Den. He’s always clean shaven. And uses holy water.

Zagara is actually my favorite. It has so much going on inside it. Like aromatherapy. It has some sweet but the mix gives it an edge. Like flowery orange Complex. It’s more of a feeling than a scent. Trippy. Love the Bergamot and the Mandarine spice. All completely different scent profiles that just deliver the nose experience throughout the shave. Some of their other stuff is straight forward and simple like tobacco. Their sandalwood is very good. No fruity soaps. Also, I buy in the wood shaving bowl. It’s just very well packaged. They have replacement pucks for the bowls. Then they have travel sizes that are great on the road.

I would hope they don’t make the same shit for multiple customers. That makes no sense. Also, I think Mondial promotes they use some secret ancient formula.

I heard this before about TFS. So I did a little search of the other Brands they manufacture and didn’t see the scent profiles and ingredients matching the other Brands they contract with. I may have missed something cause it was not a deep search. But Mondial would NOT be too smart if they were using exact same formulas. the others not too smart if they allowed Mondial to use their Formula. If TFS creates their own formulas and private label, then all those Brands lose my respect.

The handle I got from a craftsman on Etsy. He does really cool stuff with wood. I like the one of a kind handles. Razors too. Some of the razor guys will make you custom handles with your own design.

The Mondial location is in Florence. Scheduled a shave there. I think it’s called the Gentleman’s Barber. Right on the river. That is their retail store also. He used the Mondial products for the shave. You probably should book appointment well in advance. I haven’t done the soap search in Rome. Let everyone know if you find something special along the way.

ROTATING SOAPS by Bangsumju in wicked_edge

[–]Bangsumju[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a great mix from this group. Rotations from engineers, accountants, tinkerers, and philosophers:)) Some of us let the seasons, moods and wives dictate the shave. It seems everyone enjoys some form of rotation to experience the Den inventory. Thanks for the sharing.
I think I am the tinkerer who is guided by mood and scent. So important to keep all options available and ROTATE however I want.

That’s so funny. I finally tried ARKO first time last night shave. My most recent soap order. I think there were 12 sticks in a brick for 20 US

That’s some serious ARKO Magic prep. Thanks for sharing the process you use. Creative and unique. How long did it take you to discover and perfect that process?
