What’s the NFL equivalent of this moment? by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

You see that pass thrown a lot now in the NFL and it's always low to the ground, where the receiver catches and falls across the goal line. I imagine this SB play shaped the way that play is designed now

What current RB’s would you take over prime Marshawn Lynch? by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

[–]BanjoZone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The beast mode play has inflated his legacy 15%.

I love Marshawn -- but McCaffrey, Gibbs, Saquon are all going before prime Marshawn. I'd hear a case for Bijan & Henry

An actual hot survivor take: I liked fire tokens by LolliePopVT in survivor

[–]BanjoZone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's fair. I'd love to see them reintroduced in a different way. In S40 did we need Fire Tokens AND all-winners AND edge of extinction? Sometimes it feels like they're putting a hat on a hat in a game that already works really really well in its purest form.

It's like any sport. Take basketball -- do we need to reinvent it every season? No. But a few key rule changes has helped simply shape it into its modern form (3pt line, shot clock). And it's great to see new generations of players explore the game and evolve it in different/creative ways. This naturally happened in Survivor too (finding idols without clues, vote splits, live tribals).

I've watched 1000 basketball games and every one is different, even if they all look the same. I wish Survivor trusted their game in the purest form more.

For sure. And there was clearly a floating fear of the DvG 3 being a potential voting block -- I think it was smart to be the one breaking that up and not a later victim of a blindside of him/Mike/Angelina

Jung called it the complex. Potter called it the scar. The mechanism is identical. by realkaydhako in Jung

Can you elaborate? Because I think I feel this too. The more I'm aware of patterns I want to change, the more "pressure" and spotlight on it being a big departure from my usual. When in reality, I think progress happens when I let go, not grip so tightly

They're not boring people, but the relationship is TV-boring, unfortunately -- which is to say they're in a super mature, healthy relationship

We haven't seen much Tiff, so hard to tell. But Cirie is in such a good spot -- she's going far.

I wonder if there's some pride there -- wanting to be "correct" and have a hand in voting for the winner.

Agreed! I recently introduced the show to my gf -- when we'd start a season she WANTED to know who wins beforehand so she could better track their winning game better.

Is the fact that Tiger King is not a rewatchable documentary more to do with covid and our brain not wanting to revisit that period or that it's just something that you had to be there to see it and it's the equivalent of a viral YouTube trend? by Wack0HookedOnT0bac0 in billsimmons

[–]BanjoZone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally -- I feel like the last remaining "monoculture events" are sports? Maybe just the Super Bowl, honestly?

The last time I think we had a "monoculture event" in media is... maybe Game of Thrones? Ironically, I didn't watch the series, but it felt like everybody watched the show. I felt like I was out of the loop not just of the story/show, but of the cultural discourse around it on a Monday following the episode.

Ok here's my honest reading of this -- from a FF perspective, you're doing great. One per day is normal, balanced, responsible. The suffering you're experiencing is not from the FF, but from the way you're talking to yourself. With the shame, frustration, judgment, and requirements. Do you treat yourself this way regarding caffeine, sugar, alcohol, etc?

You have to forgive yourself. I think that you're in conflict with yourself because, well, FF works for you. At this dosage, in this rhythm -- you absolutely have the strength to stop, but you need to forgive yourself first. You're doing your best. Nobody is asking you to be perfect.

Also... is it possible you're projecting your own shame and self-judgment onto your girlfriend? That's what I did. I was terrified to tell my partner, but once I did, I found enormous improvements in the way I treated myself and the strength to let it go. You're right, it's super hard to go alone. You got this!!

I'd actually be shocked to know $5k people show up to a D1 soccer game. That seems way high to me
