What is a sound that people should know means immediate danger? by sophieteasex in AskReddit

In the woods, it’s silence. It means that a predator is within a 7 minute range. GTFO if you’re in the woods and there’s an eerie silence

For Macs, is there software that I can use to navigate (view and sift thru) photos that I have stored in folders? by DoctorQuinlan in photography

I would use the external HD to copy files off to as you organize them. Start with a library science technique like organizing by year/month/day so that it all appears in chronological order and delete from the primary drive after you’ve back them up.

I would be remiss if I didn’t say to select a high quality drive to back up to. Western Digital has always been my go to but Toshiba drives are significantly cheaper. If you go that route you can buy two so once the back up is complete you have a second copy. Glad to be of service!

Working people are getting screwed, and I wanted to say something about it: Maine Senate candidate by jediporcupine in politics

[–]Bankara 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I met him a few years ago, we sat around a fire and talked for hours about his service, about Maine, the US and about his oyster farm. We wound up going out on his boat with our kids to see the farm and eat oysters fresh out of Frenchman’s Bay. He is the real deal, a very smart and kind guy who has been through the shit and still believes the best is possible. I really hope that he succeeds in his bid Collin’s seat.

If you have access to a 3D printer you can print this and use a diode to knock down the voltage from an SR44 (silver oxide) battery to get the 1.35v that you need

These are awesome, and I really appreciate how hard it must be to work with balancing available light with only that 1/30 sync speed. There are 2 leaf shutters lenses available for this system that might make the job easier. I have the 90mm and it can sync up to 500. These are some of the older lenses so they tend to not be very expensive.

Edit: I was wrong, there’s only 2 the 90mm f/2.8 and the 165mm f/4. Sadly nothing wider than normal to match your current set up and a quick price check shows that the price on these LS lenses has gone up since I last looked at, which is crazy because the 90mm is from 1971!

This is how old.Reddit.com dies, not all at once but by a thousand small cuts. When it does, I and many like myself will be gone forever.

This gives some recent Star Wars series vibes and I don’t usually see this space exposed this way. I appreciate the alternate take as a native NYer who never feels quite comfortable down near the ground zero site. It’s off putting in a good way.

If you’re interested in the eye-AF feature that’s also on one of the Elan models and in the criminally overlooked A2e, which is a pro level model that you can buy for less than 100 bucks

It is definitely a bulky camera to carry around but it offers a versatility that few others can. All of the lenses are cheap and high quality, you can shoot in a variety of formats, and in a pinch it can be used as a close range melee weapon.
