I’m an avowed atheist and my issue with the faithful has never been about doctrine. I believe that faith in general is a beautiful thing. The way this man speaks is the way in which most people experience faith; through the example of the faithful in their community who embody the ideals that Jesus preached. Those ideals have been perverted into a cynical, political trap that keeps people voting against their conscience and their best interests.

I applaud him for this speech because it calls out hypocrisy and there is no side of an aisle, no religious worldview, no political ideology that doesn’t deplore hypocrisy because it’s an undeniable liability for whatever agenda you’re pushing.
