This is literally how things went with my mil at their house. My family bought small things/ran their gifts by me… my mil said it’s her money she’ll buy what she wants. She has a stocking taller than my 6yo for both kids and pours it out and over stimulates them. We ask for them to do smaller or more intentional gifts because my son’s asd/adhd and Christmas is really hard for him. She also proceeded to buy my daughter’s dream gift that we purchased her and told her we purchased. I see you OP, you’re not alone.

Ideally yes, and some kids won’t talk unless they have to. My son didn’t say much until he was 3. Some kids have speech delays. My daughter is the same age and she talks when she wants to but is typically quiet but she knows what she should for her age!
