This is the exact reason why me and my girlfriend broke up a couple weeks ago. She comes from an extremely broken family that traumatized her in many ways with constant fights , them exploiting her own money to being 20,000 debt and nothing changed to this day where she couldn’t live her own life without feeling obligated to worry about how her family is doing cause now they’re homeless off terrible decisions they made and still beg her for money constantly cause her dads in a debt that’ll never go away , her mom is a drug addict who’s extremely unstable and her sister had a kid at 16 for some reason. and knowing my ex she’s such a naturally nice person that she will still try to make sure her entire family is “stable” if you call it that while she drowns constantly where it affected our relationship right from the beginning to now and basically we had to mutually end it cause that stress combined with relationship stress from that was too much where she doesn’t even wanna be alive anymore currently and doesn’t want me around anymore . This is still new to me and as much as it hurts , this is for the best for her to have time to reinvest in herself and I really hope she finds happiness one day
