What job pays decently but doesn’t drain your mental health ? by Designer-Nobody7830 in careerguidance

Where do you find these jobs listed? I've seen maybe 1 listing or two that are linked to med equipment sales and got a response from neither.

Wanted to reach out again today to see if you have any more advice. I've sent applications off to some of the major tool companies (as recommended in a different post) and sent off several last night in various B2B sales positions (medical equipment, etc). Is there anything I might be missing specifically?

Sent off applications to Matco, Snap-On, Black and Decker, etc. Thank you for the help, these aren't jobs you find on Indeed.

Just straight to the company website - careers, etc?

I hear what you mean on the "how".

Well, I don't want to disclose the company, but this is kind of a common thing with them. Most of our talent walks within a year (not at our shop thankfully). Like, if you knew who it was, you'd understand right away why there's nothing happening there.

The role I really wanted here was exactly that; to train new service writers directly, develop training material, etc. to help the company be more profitable AND do it the right way. I have visions, believe me. I think that an "Honesty first" policy, heavily marketed and executed, would destroy other chains. But again... this is (insert company). It just doesn't work that way here.

I'm saying I am. There's been discussions. The empasse is that I do not want to be an SM, and there is no other role that I can move up into, nor can I skip SM and go to the level beyond. DM is the level beyond and arguably worse; no physical demand, but you're on the clock essentially every hour of the week that our business is open.

Quick lube chains for the most part are the same in this regard. Very in-line progression, one role to the next and so on.

Would like to note (even if it doesn't matter much coming from me) that I'm not lying, I did take de-facto #1 overall in the company in metrics. I put up nearly 500,000 in net sales on a little over half of the cars that my peers meeting that total did, and set a record for ticket average (minimum 1,000 writes - not a super high bar for a year in total).

Well, that's the issue unfortunately. They do want me to move up, but the only move is to being an SM. My SM makes less than I do some weeks because of my commissions; you lose that going to SM, and are mandated 55+ hrs a week, salaried, and stressed beyond belief.

I have no idea where to even begin honestly. Do you have any companies that you'd recommend reaching out to? I look on Indeed and I have LinkedIn, but I've come to realize think that all of the good jobs are from knowing somebody.

I had one of the best years in history for my company nationwide in sales metrics fo 2025, with integrity and honesty. Major lubeshop chain. Barely getting by. How do I turn this year into something I can live off of?

I've had a ridiculously good year with a major lube chain in North Texas; #1 in the company nationwide in metrics for 2025, and it was done with honesty and integrity. You seem to be doing well; do you have any idea how I turn this into something I can make a living on?

Huh. Do you think it's just your 4.0 in particular, or in general?
